Haven't done my taxes yet.

What do I do?

gar1976 04-26-2005 06:56 PM

You do your taxes.

FngKestrel 04-26-2005 07:14 PM

File a late return. Go to the IRS website for the documentation.

http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/...108326,00.html

Don't file late again.

You could go on holiday overseas and mail your return from there, pretending that you are an overseas filer. We get an automatic extension until the 15th of June.

That's what you'd do if you were sneaky and conniving anyway. Honest chaps would just file a late return. If you are going to file a late return though, do it as quickly as possible as any penalties incurred (if any) are dependant on exactly how late your return is (I think).

I haven't done my state taxes yet. Well, actually, I've done them but I can't find my W-2's to send in with them. What really sucks is that the state owes be $150!!!

JustJess 04-27-2005 09:38 AM

Talk to your payroll department - they should be able to re-print your W2's for you.

u have 3 days till April 30. Since that is a Saturday, you've got until May 2. sharpen your pencils, and spend your evening doing them.

maleficent 04-27-2005 10:07 AM

tax day in the us is april 15.

Janey 04-27-2005 10:20 AM

ohhhh... that sucks. I thought April 30 was bad enough.

FngKestrel 04-27-2005 10:29 AM

But people get their W2s in January, why do people wait?

Janey 04-27-2005 10:42 AM

procrastrination is the root of all evil.

la petite moi 04-27-2005 01:18 PM

Why are people saying to do them by hand? You can do them easily on the internet, as well.

I've never understood that either especially since the earlier you do them, the faster you get your return. I filed my taxes in mid-January and had my return three days later.

Not everyone gets a return. I owed the goverment 3800 this year, i was in no hurry to get it to them. Not to mention, my landlord owns 9 properties. He told me it takes him 8 weeks to do his taxes - he tends to exagerate a little bit, but not everybody's taxes are 10 mins on a 1040-EZ.
