Oh. Jesus. My arm is ejecting freckles.
 

Here's an outline of what's doin':
1) Freckle bulges
2) Bulge recedes
3) Becomes callous like and comes off in layers
4) Leaves divet
5a) (very quickly) Divet scabs over
5b) Another freckle starts (On third freckle now)
6) Scab fades leaving scar like tissue
7) Skin appearance normalizes

Seriously, what the christ? Does anybody have any idea what is up with this? The process becomes noticable six days before it's done. The freckles are the only ones I've got which exceed 1 cm in any dimension, there is one remaining large freckle unaffected. Anybody got any information, I was unable to find anything specific to this on the Yahoo or the Google.

Suggestion only: it's time to visit the doctor. Lots of skin cancer in my family, so perhaps I'm paranoid... but that sounds wrong. This is what health insurance was created for. Go to, and let us know how you're doing.

Tis the plan. Won't get to see him for a bit and I'm bugging out and checking up on various skin disorders now to hopefully find something. Ugh, this is so irregular, I'm bad with freckles it seems...

I'll check with a nurse I know who works in a cosmetic surgeon's office tonight - if I get any info, I'll write in tomorrow.

Loverboy has kind of the same problem only his body is rejecting his birthmarks, not his freckles. His skin doesn't come off but the birthmarks will eventually bulge a bit. Then the area around it will become white and then the birthmark will eventually become smaller and smaller. He went to see the doctor because of this and was told that it was perfectly harmless. I'm pretty sure your doctor will tell you the same :)

What's getting me the most is that the freckle is gone around 6 days after the initial bulging, and the third is on day four with a tiny amount of blood leaking around certain bits of the receding and hardening bulge. I'm really hoping that it is indeed just some harmless, though highly irregular, freckle behavior.

Are you sure it's a freckle? It kind of sounds like it might be a mole from the description of the size. But I'm no doctor, I'd reccommend visiting one to be on the safe side.

If it's something you haven't had diagnosed before, it's wise going to see the doc. The older you get, the more weird skin growths appear. In my 30s, I started getting papilomas around the neck (the little sacks that hang off your skin), weird round brown things that kept bleeding, scabbing, bleeding, cabbing, and odd shiny patches that did the same thing around the edges.

Every time a type of growth pops up I go to the skin doctor and he tells me that it's harmless and freezes it off or cuts it off if it's bothersome. And I don't worry about that particular variety anymore.

But always go, because the skin doc's message could always be, "Melanoma." Which is generally only fatal _if you put off treatment._

Anything that changes color or acts weird on your skin should be checked out by a doc. Most things are nothing, but a few aren't, and if they are something then the earlier it's caught the better.

As Rodney said, melanoma (which is the deadliest form of skin cancer) is generally only fatal if treatment is delayed.

Went to a doc today and it's some kind of crazy bacterial infenction of my arms. Nothing critical, I am super relieved.
