Paradise?
I'm looking for great ideas for an end-of-March vacation. I'm a single male that loves photography and I'm on a limited budget. What I'm looking for....a beach, modest accomodations (tiki hut would rule!), close to some chicas and a scenic enviro'. Does anyone know where this paradise can be found?

How limited is the budget?
How long are you planning on going for? I assume you want to fly? From where would you be flying out of? and how long did you want to sit on a plane for. Tahiti/Moorea is about as close to Paradise as you can get, the accommodations were reasonable, but the flight is a bitch (about 19 hours or so) so if you are going for a few days, it's not worth it. There are areas of Florida that are beautiful, end of March might be spring break for a lot of colleges, so of nubile young thngs, and a partying atmosphere are your thing then Daytona or some other floriduh destinations are a good time, there are plenty of cheapo motels that you could stay at... There's always Paradise Island in the Bahamas a little pricier,. but a lot prettier. |
Hedonism II ... I'm sure you could get lots of interesting photo's from that :p

Paradise
I should have about 8 days and a G to play around with. I would love to see the S. Pacific but the airfare would kill my budget. I lived in Florida so that's not really a desirable destination. Been there, done that. Cancun or Costa Rica sound pretty cool but I haven't heard much about where to go or not go.

anywhere in the carribbean should suit your needs...
Check out places like Club Med, which has multiple destinations, priced for most any budget, and the resorts are pretty well set up so that a single male won't be stuck at a resort wiht rugrats running around. Club med is nice because it's all inclusive.. you don't pay for anythingt, not even tipping, once you are at the resort. (I went to the one in Moorea and it was beautiful. but I am a non-social person so it was a little too summer campish for me-- other people who aren't shy wallflowers had a blast) What about a cruise? Puerto Rico? I'd suggest Cuba, but from tennessee it's a little difficult to get to... |
A friend of mine swore by Tulum in Mexico...
You can stay in hotels that have huts right on the beach. (Tiki hut if you will) There are Maya ruins nearby (photos). He said it was very reasonably priced. |
I'll check out Club Med info. and Tulum (that sounds familiar). A cruise would be cool for me...for about 12 hrs. then I'd get claustrophobic. I appreciate all the input. Too many places to see and not enough means to accomplish the travel. I'll have to put more effort into my photography hobby before I go pro!

I'm a big fan of camping in Hawaii. Stay in a hotel the 1st and the last night and then just go to the state parks and car-camp. $5 a night. It rules!!!!

I second Moorea, absolutley beautiful!

re paradise
You would have to look into cost of plane ticket, but here is a place that I really enjoyed many years ago.
Lamu, Kenya - accomadations were very affordable (a few dollars a night), along with food (lobster etc - also for a few dollars a night). Beach and really interesting scenery and things to do - for 10 dollars a day at the time, you could go out with a few people in a boat, go snorkelling, look at corral reefs, have lunch on the beach - and that took up the whole day. Very interesting ruins and culture, too. One of my traveling companions at the time got a ticket from Kenya to to states for aobut $450 or $400 dollars - but this was many years ago (10+) and we began our travels in Africa, so I have no idea as to costs for the reverse. Have fun wherever you go |
