Flumist? They have been playing radio ads for a local health clinic offering a "Flumist" vaccine. I'd never heard of it so I decided to do a little bit of research on if it would be a good idea to take. I found this Usenet post from last year that claims: Quote:
Have any of you guys taken Flumist? Did you get sick? We dont really have any shots to go around but I want to get protection. This just sounds like to much of a pain to go through. |

The hospital I work at gave out the FluMist to healthcare providors under the age of 50 (that's me! :)). It felt a little strange having some fluid squirted up your nose, but there were no other side effects. No fever, chills, cough, runny nose, headache or muscle aches. In all, I think the FluMist is a safe and effective method for being vaccinated against the flu. |

I got it last year and didn't have any problems with it. I didn't get the flu either, but I rarely get that. |

Same here, no ill effects; seemed perfectly harmless and I didn't get sick. Isn't the idea of the flu vacine that you are getting a mild dose of the virus to help build up your immune system? I'd think that the possibility of getting sick exists with any method. |

(I opened this thread because I was wondering what fluming was, and assumed that a flumist is a person who flumes. Nevermind...) |
