Ordering wedding invites online

Most of you know Im getting married...I was wondering if any of you had ordered your invitations from an online provider and if so would you recommend them or warn me to stay away from any particular ones?

I can tell you my wife ordered our invitations online and they came out fine and on time. Unfortunately this was almost 2 years ago now and neither of us can remember where we got them. So, here is a generic thumbs-up for it. Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

I can tell you that a buddy of mine set-up the internet ordering system for a print shop. Basically all of these places are traditional outlets that simply pay someone to tie their system into a web site. This means that they usually have a record as a traditional print shop that you can look at when making your decision.

(I just spoke to her. She says that she visited a number of sites that had the same styles available. Apparently they all went to the same physical shop. She says that if you find 3 or 4 sites with the same product, you know you've found the one she used. Oh and we're in Atlanta so it should get to you in time too.)

No, we got married in British Columbia. We thought about getting married at SciTrek (before it closed) but determined that having it locally would include over 200 relatives. I don't like my relatives that much :) (though it would have been fun to have the Varsity cater).

I like your invitations. I assume you are a Ren Fest fan?

Oh, and congradulations!

I tried eloping lol Daves family would kill me and they are a LOT of people ha ha I have a feeling his mom and dad will be helping down the road, but since its my 2nd wedding I dont want to ask. Sci Trek would really have been cool....I wanted the Tabernacle but they dont rent for stuff like that lol

I havent missed a renn fair since I was 11

Our wedding is renn/celtic themed thats why those invitations are so perfect!!

We didn't elope, but by having out out of town me were able to make sure that only the people who really wanted to be there actually came. The exchange rate was really good for us too so we were able to have a great party for the people who did make it.

I thought I had the Ren Fair thing pegged! Glad to know I wasn't wrong. I don't go very often but I can't turn down a roasted corn.

Good luck with your planning. I know my wife nearly went mad with ours. Maybe I should have helped a little

oops sorry, maybe I should have said destination wedding lol

Dave helps lol everytime I turn around hes sending me links for things to look at and get ideas from....and as usual they are always good lol but he's kinda driving me nuts...in a good way :)

I just wish I knew someone that sewed leather and could make his kilt so I didnt have to pay 600 bucks for it :o

Sbudda 12-01-2004 02:25 PM

Heh..

You know, if you think of it as $600 for a wedding "dress" then it isn't really that bad after all. Plus, it's actually an outfit he could wear for years.... (I need to shoot my imagination)

ShaniFaye 12-01-2004 02:34 PM

this is my dress except it will be green and ivory and have 3 inch wide shoulder straps and its only 200 bucks lol

he'll be wearing a black leather kilt and black poets shirt

trust me...our wedding clothes will be used for renn fairs and the like for years to come so they wont waste away in any closet lol

I absolutely love that dress. The lacing on the front is so sexy. I also like the invites you picked.

Like you, I would also want unconventional invitations. I hate all those lacey, flowers and shit they put on most of them.

ShaniFaye 12-02-2004 04:24 AM

thanks nikki :) I hate the lacey flower stuff too...I dont think I've ever received one wedding invitation that stands out in my mind because they are all the same...My mother told me last nite she showed that to a friend and thinks they can duplicate it for me which would be cool...

I wanted to do a velvet scroll invitation but mailing them would be a pain in the butt cause I'd have to buy tubes for all of them :(
