Buying glasses..
I want to get a new pair of glasses. My right lense keeps falling out because of the cheap ass frames. I usually get glasses from my eye doctor, but now I don't have health insurance since I'm over the age of my dad's health insurance will cover. So i'm not quite sure how to go about getting new glasses. I've seen those glasses shops like Pearl Vision etc.. but I don't want to go in and end up having to pay all these fees to get new pair of glasses. What do you usually do when you go into these stores to get new glasses?

Costco-I saved 4X's the membership fee compared to lenscrafters

i say costcos would be the best. I bought a pair there for really cheap and they lasted a while.

No costcos around here :(

Couldn't you just get the glasses repaired. It sounds to me like the screws on your glasses aren't tight enough.

You should only need health insurance if you are getting a new perscription for your new glasses. If you plan on getting new glasses and leaving the perscription the same you could go to about any place that makes glasses and they will make some for you.

About 4 years ago i went into our equivelant specsavers. I picked the most expensive pair they had. Titanium, super light & I still have them to this day. Best pair I ever bought, had the lenses changed once coz they were getting all scratched. Before this the longest a pair had ever lasted me was 2 years max.
On another note, ever thought about contacts? I tried them today & theyre quite comfortable. When the summer hots up Ill be thankful I dont have specs botherin me. |
How much do a new pair of glasses cost? Where can I get glasses repaired? I've thought about contacts but the idea of it getting stuck behind my eyeball freaks me out plus I would probably leave it in and totally forget about changing my contacts.

It was somewhere around $225 for my glasses. 60 for each lens and a hundred for the frames.

Just take it back to where you purchased these existing glasses and ask if they could replace the screws on your glasses.
