Vegas baby!
I'm going to Vegas. Staying @Paris Hotel. 1st time there and i printed lots of coupons from the net!!! I am staying there for 5 days and i'm wondering if I should check out Downtown.
So many things to do there but I really don't know what to do? Has anyone seen Zumanity? I have tickets to that. |
I'm sure you'll get replies from people much more experienced in Vegas than me, but for what its worth, i'd recommend hopping a cab for the downtown area one night, the Fremont Street Experience is a giant overhead lightshow that plays regularly, it is quite impressive. There are also some older casinos which have a sort of an old fashioned Vegas feel to them, at least a couple of places to get a good CHEAP! meal, a strip club if memory serves, that sort of thing. It's worth a look. Zumanity wasn't playing yet when i was last there, but I saw "O" and it was a fantastic show. I think you'll find Zumanity great. If your into nightlife, obviously there's lots to do, but there's lots to see for free too. Have a drink at the pool side bars of some of the hotels and soak up the atmosphere. have fun!

Where did you find the coupons? I've found one good site here: http://www.lasvegas-nv.com/las-vegas-coupons.htm (Lots of good 2 for 1's and stuff). Let me know what you've found if you would, I'm going next week. We thought about staying at Paris, but went with Monte Carlo. Have fun down there.

One of the best things I did in Vegas was go to the medieval dinner show at the Excalibur (thats where I was staying). If I remember right it was about 30 dollars a ticket. The food was good, the entertainment great!!

I went to Zumanity, Tournament of the Kings and Mac King for shows. I had a blast there. I recommend Mac King because the tickets are cheap (you can get a coupon for a free show but you need to buy a $7 drink) and he is soooo funny. Tournament of Kings was fun and Zumanity is an adult oriented show!!!
Oh the food... I ate at the buffets, In-n-Out burgers, and other good places. It was all good. I recommend the Paris Buffet for breakfast/lunch as they make crepes on the spot for you. Very nice I say. Another good place to eat is the Grand luxe Cafe in Ventian(sp?). This restaurant is a sister company to the Cheese Cake factory. The meals are HUGE. I loved it there. Check this coupon site: http://www.destinationcoupons.com/Ne.../Las_Vegas.asp I used tonnes of coupons from many places... yes, i'm a cheapo :) |
Thanks for the link. I found a few more good ones that I previously didn't have. Glad you had a good time! We're going on the 15th, and we too have Tournament of Kings tix. This will be my 3rd time to the show, but there are 12 of us & some haven't gone yet. We got in section Russia, the whole first row (all but 2 seats). We're getting so excited! Did you ever check out www.cheapovegas.com ? They have lots of good tips.

Thanks for the links. I'm going to Vegas pretty soon.

Check out the free Bellagio water show! One of my fav things to do in Vegas. Stand on sidewalk smoking a cigar while watching the water dance in the lights. Ah, I miss Vegas...

I have now seen Zumanity three times, and I love it. I don't know how soon you're going, but that's the kind of show where you want to sit close, so try to reserve your seats ASAP.
It is an adult show, and there's a fair amount of nudity. It's also, like all Cirque shows, quite strange. To me, it has a futuristic pleasure dome kind of vibe to it. There's a point where these two really fat women come out in lingerie juggling dildos, and another point where a man runs around the stage with a blow up doll. And the dwarf: absolutely fucking spectacular! Anyway, I think you get the idea. I don't want to ruin the show for you. Regarding downtown, it's something you should probably see, but I wouldn't plan on spending much time down there. And for chrissakes, stay on the Fremont Street Experience. Like most cities, our downtown is not the nicest of areas. Also, Bellagio fountain show and Conservatory are a must (both free). Have fun, and if anyone else has questions about Vegas, I consider myself something of an unofficial ambassador for the place. Feel free to start another thread or PM me. |
Make sure you take a cab over to the Palms while you are there. The gambing is good with favorable payouts on video poker (if you look for them) and great scenery.

Great place to visit for a weekend, crappy place to live...
I'm about an hour away, and can't stand going there anymore. |

Oh and don't forget to sign up for a players club card, depending on how much you plan to play you could get your room comped, or at least get some free buffets or show tickets.
|
anyone eat at In-n-Out Burgers? or do you like other burger joints in Vegas?

Choose atleast one night to walk the strip and see all the lights and entrance shows, its awesome. And thanks to no open container laws you can have some drinks while doing it. If you can afford it or hit a winning streak and have the extra cash I also highly recommend a steak dinner at Smith and Wolensky across from the Bellagio. It will be insanely expensive, but it was bar none the best steak I've ever had and its got a great view. If you have a little bit of the geeky persuation I also highly recommend stopping in at Quark's Bar at the LV Hilton. Its an awesome Star Trek theme bar, and it has one of my all-time favorite drinks ever, the Warp Core Breech. They serve it in a fish bowl the size of your head with dry floating in it so that it smokes and bubbles. Not for the faint of heart, I had one all to myself and it was definetly the start of a crazy night. Also, if you like more of an irish pub feel to your bars (or if you like waitresses wearing miniskirt kilts, and don't we all) go to the Tilted Kilt Pub. Great variety of beer on tap. Man, this thread is making me wanto to go back to Vegas.
