porn.

Actually, I've been pondering doing online porn for some time, especially since the market for that kinda thing is expanding these days. It's not as easy as you'd think though. First of all, you have to choose what kind of porn. I'm a sociologist, but I'd be buggered if I knew what kind of porn is most popular these days. Do you go with a particular kind of porn, and fill the whole page with it (like M+F or FF), or do you mix the stuff, or should you rather go for your own content. Stuff like that. Not only that, I would think it would be hard to promote a new porn site these days, considering the fact that there are so many of them.

Apart from that, there is the issue of infrastructure. Apart from the porn itself, you also need a good host with lotsa bandwith, a content controll access system to manage your yousers and a backend to support payments with banks, phones and whatnot. So I guess it's not that easy, is it? Maybe someone could shed some light on the topic.

Frankly speaking, unless you cater to a limited group of fetishes. You won't really make any real money off a start up porn site. Why? Because there are dozens of sites that cater to your average porn viewer. For FREE!

Nomi 09-02-2004 10:01 AM

Porn websites are extremely hard to compete with these days due to the competition and the large sites that can pretty much flood the market.

Not only would you have to find a more obscure fetish to use as a basis for the site, but you would need to be able to produce your own pictures. You just won't make any money without original content.

Instead of porn I would suggest this. Find a topic that really interests you. A game, or way of life, a whatever. Start up a small website and possibly a discussion forum.

Let members join that have similiar interests and eventually you will have a nice community. Use targeted ads to make some money (google ads actually work quite well there) and then maybe include larger sponsors when the site is large enough.

It is very possible to make money on the internet, you just have to reach the right group of people. Porn used to be an easy way, but these days there is just so much of it out there people are becoming numb to it.

Two words: ponzi scheme.

Just kidding.

The current method I'm using is through financial solutions.

I'm currently designing a website to facilitate all of the different systems I use now - but the idea is essentially the same as Nomi's. Find something that you enjoy doing - and are actually interested in. From there - build it, and they will come.

If you want to see a turn key system that's currently working - only used for an example:

http://fxtrainer.com [main website]
http://eflormata.fxtrainer.biz [turn key mirror version] <-- yes, this is mine.

This is the site I'm basing my own on. It's going to be more than just Foreign Exchange however - as it will go into Tax Planning, RRSP solutions, Investing Systems, etc. Just pick an honest topic that you're willing to put a lot of time into - and go for it.

On a side note.. if anyone can recommend any decent webhosts on Microsoft servers (for .NET applications) please throw them my way. I also run a software consulting company on the side and am looking for hosts to recommend to my customers. PM me please in respect of this thread.

I don't know much about stock trading, but that site looks good! So... where's the money?

Thanks - haha.
It's actually currency trading - not stock.
The money is actually what you trade ;)

And no - that's just a stock photo.

I dont think a porn paysite would generate a lot of money for you because not a lot of small porn sites are getting enough publicity. Also in this day and age, no one wants to pay for porn.

I actually think currency trading is complex. Stocks are much easier.

Depends on how you look at the subject.
There are currently roughly 60,000 companies being publicly traded.
Narrow it down to a specific field - and then furthermore narrow it down into the market leaders - or the undervalued stock prices. Even if you managed to get it down to 10 or 20, there is still the fact that you'd have to research each of these companies to get a decent feel as to what was going on within them. It's a lot of research - and without decent sources of information, a daunting task. Furthermore - you require a lot of capital to even put a dent into the stock markets.

Foreign Exchange on the other hand - just learn how to efficiently trade 2-3 currency pairs. There are only two directions. Up and Down. Using Technical Analysis paired up with Fundamental Analysis - it's not too hard to see the clear trends and hop along for the ride. Mind you - you won't be making the killing that the banks do, but I mean - $100-$300 USD extra a day for 1-2 hours of "work" makes a difference in my life. To boot, you can start for as little as $300 USD Capital. (you won't be making 100/day on that unless you're a genius, but with time your capital will rise to an amount where it becomes a possibility)

I'm very interested to learn more about FX trading. Any suggestions besides your site as a place to learn?

Also are the risks comparable to day-trading on the market? I'm a dabbler and I've either scored huge or been burned huge on the one-time VSX, as an example.... 100-300 U$/day sounds mighty interesting...

By the way I also read your post re: Canadian Humanitarian Trust... my accountant got me onto it last week! :D

What do you think of the Banyan Tree as a similar option? http://www.banyantree.ca?

Thx~B

I say, just go with DVDA and the good ol' dog in a bathtub.

really though, I would just sell your useless crap around your house on ebay. I mean really, how often do you listen to Linda Ronstadt anyways?

There's always poker. ;D

What ever you decide to do, offer something that has value for the customers. Don't just do the same thing that a bunch of other folks are already offering. Make it a little different, something that they can't find somewhere else, make it easier for them to do business with you vs the competitors.

If you can't differentiate your product or service, you will not survive.

moneytec.com forums are great for Forex. No titty board there though sadly.
Look up bunnygirl - her system is freely posted, and seems to do wonders for people.

isutommyt 10-23-2004 01:56 PM

I'd recommend playing poker, lots of funny changing hands.
