How has everybody been?

Hey all, I took a pretty long break from the boards due to me severely breaking my arm (humerus bone) but I am all healed and back in action :). Hopefully all of you are still sticking to your health goals and maybe have even achieved them already! Regardless, I just wanted to say hi to the regulars who might remember me from this forum :)

Glad your arm is all healed up. How long did it take you to get full range of montion back?

Bobaphat 08-23-2004 12:58 PM

Welcome back!

hannukah harry 08-23-2004 01:27 PM

Very very quickly. I am guessing that me being in shape before I broke it played a part in how quickly I healed and was able to get my ROM back. It was frustrating and hurt badly, but I pushed myself very hard to get it back. It still hurts a little, but I am able to lift weights (albeit a lot less then before) and exercise again. I will be going back to work next week which I am happy about :). I figure in another month or two, I will be feeling 100% like nothing ever happened.

I wondered what had happened to you. Let's see if we can find some good topics to debate.

I too am curious as to how you did it. We want all the gory details!

Welcome back :)

good to have ya back. By the way your avatar is money.

Averett 08-24-2004 06:19 AM

Be careful not to push yourself too hard!

I know when I had my broken arm, the worst part was that one week where I was just stuck. Could not get my arm to move past the ROM I had. Then finally I broke through it.

Now I get to use my arm as a barometer  Maybe that's just the hardware though...

i was wondering where you have been

Heya Plan9!

Nice to see you back .... sucks when an injury can mess with your job like that. Hope you get back into the swing of things soon.

What kind of workouts did you do while healing? I guess any type of running would have been a little jarring. You focus on leg strengthening and stationary cardio (bikes etc..)?

I cracked a rib earlier in the summer myself, during a sparring match with a 6'5" 220lb guy, who happens to be on the Canadian Jiu jitsu team! Had fun, but once the adrenaline wore off, I could barely take a hug from my girlfriend for months.

Hope to see more 'direct and honest' replies in this forum in the future ;)

Welcome back, P9. I hope your rehab continues to go well.

Rodney 08-30-2004 11:03 PM

Welcome back. Glad you got your range of motion back so quickly -- sounds like you didn't need much or any rehab. Yes, muscle's good for something. Bet you feel a lot better now that you're working out again.
