Has anyone tried any ant-acids?

If so, which ones, and do they work?

I used to eat them by the trunkful...

depends on what is going on in your stomach. I used to use Tums over rolaids because of the additional calcium in Tums. I also like the double dose of Tums.

I now don't use Tums, but Gasviscon. I love that stuff. Works much better for me.

Tums I don't like, I always felt like I was eating chalk. I'm rarely more than arms length away from a bottle of the Quick Dissolve Maalox in the delightful fruit flavors. Since I've not been drinking as much coffee, I am popping them less frequently, I'm down to about 10 a day...

For a while I had tried Pepcid AC and there's another pill one, both in prescription form and OTC, didn't give immediate relief...

male, i think you're talking about prilosec (for the prescrip. and OTC pill). it's one of those pills that doesn't get rid of acid like tums would... it stops your stomach from producing more, or as much, acid as it has been. so by taking it every day, you won't have the problem, but it takes a day or two to kick in and for you to get rid of the excess acid in your stomach.

i take nexium, which is by the same company that makes prilosec, and it's wonderful when i take it properly.

I have always had good results using those extra strength chewable tums.
