diabetes
first off, i've got to say i'm a bit of a hypochondriac. and i'm wondering if i may have developed the big D. i have a family history of it. i've been pudgy all my life, and have generally bad nutrition. i know the symptoms of it, i've checked out the sites. and for all day thursday i had to piss a lot and was really thirsty. but i was fine friday. so i'm wondering if that's something to worry about or if it was most likely something else, maybe just a bit under the weather. oh, i'm only 25. do you think it's something that i really need to check out or not? hypochondria's a bitch.

yeah, i had drank a decent amount of pop... and while i used to drink a lot of it, it's been seming to affect me a little weirdly since i started back up, like it's a diuretic but not a stimulant anymore, for me at least. i think i'm gonna give it a few more days, if i'm feeling fine the entire time, i won't worry about it. if i'm not, i'll go to the doc.

if you're worried about diabetes then why are you drinking a lot of evil fizzy sugar solution?
if you're going by family history, maybe find out when your relatives developed it ... that might give you an indication

It could even be a touch of hypoglycemia. Anyone who drinks too much pop can kindof throw themselves into a hypoglycemic state temporarily. How much pop were you actually drinking?? If it had caffene and sugar you can really throw yourself into temporary trouble. Just don't drink so much and you should be fine.
I would get it tested anyway. I have a family history of diabetes and if I hadn't gotten tested while I was pregnant I would have gotten tested by between 25 and 30 years old anyhow. It's one of those things that can sneak up on you a little bit. They often have free or low price clinics around once a year at different places. I know a pharmacy in town who offers free diabetic testing once a month on a particular day. Check around or just call your Dr and schedule a test. Just let them know that you have a family history and notice of few of the syptoms. It never hurts to be cautious. If you find out that your fine then just avoid those bad for you drinks. They're obviously not that great for you. I find I send my body into a tizzy if I drink very many of those energy drinks that are loaded with caffene and sugar. It's just not good for anyone to drink much of that.

well, i only drink diet pop, but my eating habits have been pretty bad lately, so it's very possible it was just a bit of bad eating, lots of caffiene, stress and lack of sleep. i've been feeling pretty good since i posted, just a bit headachey. right now i think i'm gonna go get tested in the next week or so just to be sure, but i think i'm okay.
thanks for the replies! oh, the hypoglycemia part makes sense though, my mom is hypoglycemic, and her mother was diabetic (which often doesn't count in health histories). so that's a definate possiblity.

The thirst and frequent urination usually is extended, not just one day, I can't say you're definitly fine, but I wouldn't be to worried.
Never hurts to get your blood glucose tested though.
