Any downsides to drinking milk, juice, and water?
 
Lately, I drink one of three things, period. Milk, juice, or water.

I drink real juice, slim milk, and tap water, and nothing else..

Are there any downsides to this, or am I missing anything by being so limited in what I drink?

When I say I only drink those three things, I'm not exaggerating, and since that creates a very limited "drinking variety" I am just wondering if there might be downsides or something that I am lacking and should add to my beverage trio?

I also take a daily vitamin, vitamin c, fish oil, and occasionally a vitamin e and iron supplement, but I'd like to cover all the bases if I can, and a lot of nutrients seem to come from beverages.

Hell yeah you're missing something: Beer, wine, and distilled spirits. In addition to their purported positive health effects, I can attest to their dramatic social effects.

I used to have a big stick up my ass and would go to clubs and just stand in the corner like a lump. Alcohol changed all that. Now I stand at the front of the crowd whether I'm drinking or not. I know it's not for everyone, but it really loosened me up and, in my estimation, made me a much better person in the long run.

You have to nurture the spirit, not just the body.

EDIT: Uless you're under 21, in which case I would recommend waiting until your local statuts allow you to imbibe legally.

lol that's true about alcohol

also red wine is good for you in moderation, coffee has been shown to have some benefits and mineral water has stuff like calcium and magnesium that your body might need if you're doing lots of exercise

Red wine has something in it that helps the body process fat, leading to less gained weight from eating. But the same thing is also found in peanuts, so you can skip the drinking and just eat a few peanuts! Watch the refined sugar in some juices, I personally drink 1/2 apple juice with 1/2 water. A water filter on your water tap will make your tap water taste better. If you are really getting tired of drinking the same things, try buying Crystal Light. It has no sugar in it, and you don't need to add sugar to make it and it tastes really good and comes in lots of flavors. As long as you are taking a multi-vitamin, you should be ok!

(Most alcohol also has lots of empty calories in it, which is never good!)

Green Tea has properties that ward off various illnesses, including purportedly cancer and heart disease.

Alcoholic beverages, in moderation, also have positive health effects, whether by red wine's antioxidants or simply the way a glass of beer can reduce your stress once in a while and make you smile.

I only drink milk and water.

remember that juice tends to have just as many calories as pop, so watch how much you drink.

I'd say you're not missing a thing. I agree with Cowman that juice has mad sugar so go easy. I might also suggest you check your tap water for lead and whatnot since it can often be pretty bad, or maybe just switch to bottled water anyway.

Everyone says alchoholic beverages are good, but I think if you are using them for medicinal purposes, then let a doctor tell you when to medicate. If you need your cholesterol adjusted, or if it would help your heart, your doctor will tell you to use it; otherwise, you're harassing your liver for not much benifit.

Most people are living off pop, and pop alone...so I am pretty sure you will be ok with water, milk and juice. The big three in the drinks department. Try some redwine with nice meals.

your three choices are all very good. Milk is a high quality protein source and good source of calcium. Juice does tend to provide a fair amount of certain vitamins and minerals. I think the best time to drink juice is generally right after a workout. The carbs are going straight in to replenish consumed carbs so the insulin spike is used to push carbs into the muscles. Juice at other times can be tough for people who have trouble controlling their insulin or who need to watch the overconsumption of calories. Water of course is good everywhere.

I believe most of the health benefits from drinking wine are also found in grape juice, so you might as well drink that unless you're looking to get drunk.

Green tea is good for you.

Thats a lot better liquid diet than most people I know--soda, beer, repeat. I wouldnt worry about it, unless you are trying to cut some weight, in which case you are gonna want to lean heavily towards the water :)

Recommendations of the use of red wine or beer for medicinal purposes is one to two glasses per night. Drinking alcohol is in most ways bad for you, but has been fun. I don't drink anymore, but I do drink bottled water, juice, and skim milk.

My extra is coffee. I love coffee. I drinks lots of espresso.

No, it actually has to do with the effect the alcohol has on your blood and in return, your heart.

Green tea is very good for you. I don't drink enough tea.

Nope, not trying to lose weight.. Just want to try and be healthy about what I drink.

I've heard alcohol, especially red wine, is healthy to drink in moderation, but I don't really see enough benefits to drinking alcohol, and don't really want to start drinking at this point.

I think you are just fine as long as you don't overdo the juice. Even 100% juice has lot's of suger with none of the intrinsic worth of the actual fruit, especially the fiber part.

That's a really good point. I checked the sugar content on the grape juice I have and it was something like 30+ grams per serving, which is a lot, especially if you drink a big glass.

Alchohol does have some benefits. But, I believe what Trisk was refering to was the flavaniods in wine/grape juice that prevent the oxidation of "bad cholesterol" that leads to the formation of plaque on artery walls. Also, antioxidents in grape juice have been shown to linger in the blood stream longer than the antioxidents in wine.

But, I do a glass of the ol' vino every now and again. In fact, I'm enjoying one now.

My sugestion - never drink pop (even diet). Can't find anything good about it.

I only drink milk and water sometimes abit of grape juice and diet coke in offseason.

i'd pass on the fruit juice because of the sugar content unless there is no added sugar. but if your not concerned about calories and crap drink up. of course the milk and water is all good. you dont need anything but water though.
