Anyone do any backpacking in here?
Just wondering if any around here do any backpacking at all?
I used to do a lot all year, but now seem to do most of mine in the spring and fall when its cooler out. So if you hike where have u hiked? I have hiked most of the Maritimes, some in Newfoundland and some in Maine. Someday I plan on doing the AT |
I've hiked portions of the Appalachian Trail...but that was years ago.

Yeah I have hiked most of it in Baxter State Park in Maine..would love the chance to do it all
|
I do some moderate hikes in BC... Mostly through the coastal mountains, the views are absolutely stunning.

Rocky Mountain National Park is amazing.

I've been backpacking around the lake and peak districts, and most of wales (not that you'll understand that if you don't live in Britain).
I do alot of hiking with my scout unit, which means 80ltr+ rucksacks for 3 days in the wilderness. Great fun:D |
I've done a lot of backpacking/hiking in Colorado. I've explored the Holy Cross Wilderness a lot. Also the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness. Basically the mountains of Colorado altogether; usually only get out during spring through the fall, but have always enjoyed the winter backpacking treks also.

Until about 5 years ago I was too traumatized from my childhood hikes with my parents. Now I hike quite a lot, both winter and summer. Last year I hiked around in Yosemite and Death Valley. I'd definitely will come back for more. I just loved the view from the plane from Minneapolis to Vegas. The last half at least. The midwest looks quite.. dull.

The Appalachian is a nice one, very cultural too

I've spent a lot of time in the peak district, especially in winter when everywhere is covered in snow. It's quite spectacular.
Also, the Highlands are a great favourite of mine. Being half Scottish, I just feel so completely at home up there, where the men are men. And about a year ago I went backpacking for a month to South Africa with a team recruited from my Sixth Form. Unfortunately, everyone seemed more content to get drunk in Cape Town than brave the Cederberg wilderness in winter. Safe to say, I hated them. Every last one. |
I've done a couple 7 day trips in Glacier National Park, Montana and a couple of 5 day trips in Alaska. My wife's back surgery has limited our backpacking in the last few years, but we will be off to New Zealand in a few weeks for some hut to hut hiking (where I get to carry everything).
