Mineral Salt Deodorant

Not really sure where to post this.

Thought I would share my discovery with the TFP world.

I sweat allot and spend allot of money on deodorants and never found one that actually worked well. A while ago a friend of mine recommended Mineral Salt as a deodorant.

I went to a local health food shop and picked up a stick for $2.

It works wonders! Doesn’t stop you from sweating but it is very effective at stopping the stench. Just apply it after the shower and you are good for a day. Today I took a shower at 4:00pm, went out to a street festival for the day and had an active evening, got back home at 3:00am. Smelled myself and I am totally fine after practically a whole day of sweating. Something which has NEVER happened with any other deodorant I tried. It also works with antiperspirants, just apply the salt on wet skin; let it dry and then apply the antiperspirant.

The best part is that the $2 stick can last for over a year. I am really liking this stuff. Thought I would share :D

Is this something usually sold in any health food store?
I might have to look into it :)

Actually my friend bought it at Loblaws but I dont have one near my house so I went to the hippy store.

Yep, it really does work.

Sounds awsome. I wonder if they have one that can be combined with an antipersperent agent.
Axe smells good but its not a good anitperspirerent. Other than normal sports sticks.

Well it is the most effective antipersperant I know. So if you want to smell good just use cologne.

I tried it with Old Spice anti-perspirant/deodorant and found that Old Spice actually made things worse. Though I cant see a problem with something like Axe which is pretty much just fragranced water.

I still need to try it with a straight anti-perspirant to see how it works out.

Trader Joes has some of this stuff, so that's another place you can try looking for it.

I tried it a couple of years ago and I found it wasnt effective enough for me. If it works for you good on ya.

interesting ... what's actually in it? "mineral salt" could be anything...

the absolute BEST deodorant/anti-persperant is stuff called CertainDry. Its like a liquid type deal that you put on at nights only and the next day you DONT sweat period. You can shower and everything with it and it wont come off! Its like the miracle deodorant. The stench that you get is from the sweat, and if you dont sweat you dont smell so this works great as a deodorant too! Just use this and a little axe in the morning and you are perfect. The stuff is so strong that if you forget a day it will usually even stop you from sweating!

Its a bit expensive, about 5 bucks for a bottle that will last about month, well worth it IMO

Try it out if you want a stronger anti-persperant!

If you have a real severe sweating problem, ask your doc to Rx some Drysol roll on.

Actually shuts down the sweat glands. No sweat. Zippo

Can be maintained using it about 2-3x weekly

Trisk 07-12-2004 11:54 PM

Is shutting down your sweat glands unhealthy?

apeman 07-13-2004 01:46 AM

you have lots of sweat glands, so shutting down some is ok ... i don't think putting it over your whole body would be a good idea though ...

I don’t mind sweat. It's natural and in appropriate circumstances can be very sexy. Some of the hottest sexual encounters of my life occurred right after rigorous physical activity that left me drenched in sweat. Bragging aside, sweat is all right as long as it doesnt leave you smelling bad. Fresh sweat is doesnt smell the bad odor develops over time because bacteria begin to reproduce in the damp environment.

This is where salt comes in. It changes the PH level of the sweat so that bacteria cannot survive. Thus as long as you take regular showers and change your clothes often there will be no smell.

Obviously anti-perspirant is needed for a professional environment where having pit stains is almost as bad as wearing a striped tie with a striped shirt.

But for days when you mix business with pleasure, or just pleasure with other types of pleasure, it's nice to be able to skip a shower here or there.
