cheap trip to Mexico
This winter I want to take a trip with my boyfriend to Mexico for a week or two. We both work minimum wage jobs so the cheaper the better, we just want to get away and relax for a bit. All inclusive would most likely be the route we want to go just so we wouldn't have to worry about paying for our meals/drinks and stuff. Any good ideas about places to go and about how much it would all cost? We're thinking of going around the end of January as that would coincide with out two year anniversary.....
Thanks in advance! :D |
It wasn't all-inclusive, but I spent some time on the Yukatan Peninsula (Isla Mujeres, Isla Cozumel, Piste, Merida, etc.) and it was pretty cheap. Ride the bus to get from city to city. Stay in cheap hotels. Eat cheap food. Drink cheap beer.
Cheap is easy in Mexico |
"Cheap is easy in Mexico" True. Very True.
The most expensive part will be getting there. The best airfares are through discounters or junket bookers. All Inclusive (AI) are generally only a good 'deal' if you plan to just hang out on property and lounge and eat and drink. If you want to fly to Cancun and then travel around you can take Clavus' sage advice. Do you speak Spanish? IMHO you would almost have to do the travelling around plan. BTW, January is high season. Try this website. This is a cool place. Not overrun with tourists and really a slice of Mexico. Check out the message board. http://www.isla-mujeres.net/home.htm Good Luck. |
Just got back yesterday from an all inclusive trip to Playa Del Carmen. It was our honeymoon so all we wanted to do was take it easy and lie around and drink and eat so that worked out well for us. If you're into travelling around and seeing the sites as I normally would be the all inclusive thing would be a waste. Best bet for cheap all inclusive trips is to check the last minute deals at the various websites like expedia.ca here in Canada.

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is cheap and it is really for relax. If you want all inclusive, Presidente Intercontinental is a good hotel.
You can try Best Western Posada Real, it is not all inclusive but there are a lot of cheap restaurants around and they have low rates, besides they have the BEST swimming pool in whole Ixtapa. You can find more information here: http://www.ixtapa-zihuatanejo.com/info/english.htm |
While I was in South Padre island we took a day trip over to Mexico (I forgot what the town was called) into a town right on the border. We ate at this amazing restaurant called Louisianas. Best mexican food i've ever had. Cheapest too. You can get great steaks in mexico for very cheap.
