Tips on gainin weight yo!
I need help I'm 6"1 145 pounds and I eat 3000 calories a day and have only gained 15 pounds in the past year! I'm 17 years old... play hockey 2 hours a day, 1 hour of walking with backpack, and 10 minutes of running - I donno if this stuff is burning to many of these calories.. In fact I don't even know if calories is what I should be using to figure out what to eat to gain weight.. All I know is.. I don't want to cut back on hockey walkin n runnin and I need some tips
*note* I eat alot of junk food.. |
generally, my advice is
1) don't eat junk food - do you know why it's called "junk" ? well then 2) eat more protein 3) try to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals a day instead of 3 larger meals 4) do high weight/low reps weights a few times a week mind you I haven't put on much weight, but I AM getting muscles, and that' what I want out of it. But I bet you can find lots of threads in this section on the same subject, with more knowledgeable people than I answering your question |
keep increasing your calories each week until you start gaining.
lots of articles here http://bodybuilding.com/cgi-bin/perl...gaining+weight |
A lot of it is your age. I was the same way when I was younger. I couldn't put on mass no matter what I did. That changed a few years ago though and I really managed to bulk up fast. Just give yourbody some time to mature and you will get there.

why do you want to gain weight? do you want to gain muscle or just bulk up so you're not labled "scrawny"?
either way, the best thing you could do right now is to not try and find some "quick fix" to gain a bunch of weight and instead start getting yourself into some good eating habits for the long run. junk food will not give you the type of weight that you want... so eat foods rich in carbs and protein and exercise using low reps and high weight, like apeman suggested. |
I've got nothing new to say.... eat alot of protein and eat 6 small meals a day. I wish I could say something new like lift weights: high weight/low reps, but even that has already been said.
|
I'd just like to say that eating 6 small meals a day will increase your metabolic rate, meaning you burn MORE calories in a day. This guy wants to gain weight, not lose it. Stick to 3 meals a day, it will mean a slower metabolism and more weight gain.
(I say this because hard gainers like imp and I have a high metabolism to start with, and don't need to increase it more.) |

drink alot of beer. (not light beer) like a case a day of Becks/Guinness beer will pack on a few pounds
|
Get married, have children, work full time. That's what's doing it to me lately. I'm not even eating bad either.

heh whether your 17/18 you will have to add more to your diet to compensate for how much energy you utilize. On top of that water is your best friend. don't be dehydrated ever. Especially with how active you are. Most athletes who work out are underhydrated and can cause a lack of energy.

When I was in high school I had the metabolism of a furnace on high. To gain weight I did two things.
1. Ate my famous weight gain quesidilla. Fry half a pack of bacon in a pan- remove bacon, but leave fat in pan. Place one tortilla in fat and shred half a block of cheddar cheese. Put bacon on cheese and another tortilla on top and fry the mother till crispy. You can hear your blood slow to a crawl after eating this. 2. Weigh yourself at the end of the week. If you haven't gained a pound sit down and eat until you've gained a pound. Repeat every week. 3. Try Whole Milk, Ice cream shakes with lots of peanut butter. ps: cut back by the time you're 25 unless you want a cholesterol count of 300+ |
either way as soon as a mod shows up here youll be banned for being 17 when you have to be 18 to be on these forums
