How to lose weight..
What and how is the easiest way to lose weight? How come a person can gain weight easily but has hell trying to get rid of it? I'm getting tired of having to buy bigger size pants every three months.
|
I've been working on the same problem myself. Eating healthy and exercise seems to be the only thing that works. I've tried everything else including the Atkins diet, the Gladiator Diet, the Tropics Diet, Slimfast and Jenny Craig.
You just gotta work hard man. This is seven years of experience talking. Also, don't expect to lose more than 3-5 lbs a week. Any more than that just ain't healthy. |
I find that if I move around more. works for me. No really, Lift weights so you don't lose muscle and do some aerobic activties two to three times a week. I prefer mountain biking, I think that nothing can beat it. Its not boring!
|
I agree with the above posters, Healthy diet and excerise is the only way to go. If you eliminate the fatty foods from your diet and learn to eat maybe 4-6 small meals a day with no snacks as supposed to eatign 3 meals a day with snack in between you will find you will start to shed pounds.
However, make sure you keep a active lifestyle so your muscles dont detoriate. |
1) Exercise- aerobic, meaning at least 20 minutes at a time
2) low carbohydrates- dont eat a whole loaf of bread 3) watch fat and calorie intake- obvious |
what limited said, remember go in it for the long haul. look for a weight loss of 1/4- 1/2 lbs a week it takes along time but you suffer very little.
|
I started working at Vons, the stress, and pushing all those god damn carts, caused me to loose 10 lbs. Not that I needed it though, Im trying to gain weight, I proably should start taking creatine.

i'm starting to develop my own little gut... i gained 40-45 pounds in the last 4 years and i'm getting sick of feeling like i'm out of shape and a little too round in the belly...
i think it's because for the last few years, i've been eating pretty poorly - midnight snacking is bad bad bad... so this week actually, i resolved that after dinner, it's liquids only until i go to bed. hopefully, that will take about 10 or so pound off by itself over then next week or 2... if i'm lucky and don't cheat, that is. :D do yourself a favor and start becoming more active. I cannot stress how important it is to keep up - trust me. i wouldn't have gained 40 pounds if i didn't sit on my behind all day. |

one of the easiest ways, at least in the perception of weight loss, is don't look at the scale everyday. i've dropped 40 pounds since the middle of january. i didn't look at a scale once until middle of march and had already lost about 20 pounds. but then again, i couldn't get to a scale cause of a broken leg, etc. ever since i started walking again, and especially the last month, i've been feeling like the last 10 pounds have been an uphill battle because i'm checking it everyday. just drink a lot of water, it will help in your bodys processing of fat, and makes you feel fuller. park at the end of the parking lot, instead of near the entrance, take the stairs instead of the elevator, if you can go to the gym and lift weights, do it. run or bike or play basket ball. you might want to go to the book store and buy Muscle and Fitness's guide to nutrition. I just picked it up, haven't looked through it beyond the first few pages, but looks promising based on the index, etc.

OK- I'll be the asshole
Smoke - kills the appetite (sure, kills you too, but you'll die skinny, really really skinny) All my smoker friends look great. |
crack, tape worms, heroin, surgery, etc...
but seriously tape worms eat more than half of your food intake... lol ok um dont drink soda any more, drink water. eat a more healthy diet, while eating less but still enough. i lost about ten pounds and i didn't even realize by only drinkin OJ at every meal and just eatting a little better. hope it helps |
Water, exercise , and cutting intake.
The oldest trick in the book. AND still the best. Why doesn't it get more credit? Cause noone wants to do any of the above. Noone actually wants to drink six glasses of water a day, noone wants to actually work at it, and noone wants to stay away from the ice cream. Fad diets come and go. All insist that you can live your lifestyle (or just about) and loose weight. All fail in the end. Remember, you want to keep the weight off! Exercise and less calories will burn fat. Not just help you loose water weight that you gain back as soon as you get "off" the diet. And if you exercise every day, and want to loose weight, you need to excercise more than what your body is aready used too. Hope this helps. |
I do atkins along with my regular workouts every year or so for maintenence, it's a good 1lbs-1.5lbs a day for a week or so for me, which by most standards for weight loss is insane. It's a good diet, I know many people who see similar results when they go on it.
It's pretty easy: Wake up, get on your bike and take a ride around the block a few times, come home. Cook breakfast (eggs and bacon, fun diet hmm?) wait for lunch, make lunch (2-4 hotdogs, no buns. one salad with home made dressing). Hit the weights (Upper body monday/wednesday, lower body tuesday/thursday. light workout friday, cardio on saturday. rest on sunday). Dinner time, steak/chicken and a salad or some vegetables. Fill up your 20 grams of carbs you're allowed to have a day with an energy shake when you want it and that's it for about 3 weeks. |
First thing I will say is if you are seriously over weight. (More then 50lbs or so) and are serious about losing weight GO TO A NUTRITIONIST. First thing. One thing I will add is go to a LICENSED nutritionist. I am talking about someone with a PHD and not someone who went to a 6 week course. Thats is step one. If you can not find a nutritionist atleast go to your doctor but a real nutritionist is better. Have them build a diet for you. Thats the biggest problem with fad diets and the thing that most people don't seem to realize. Everyone is different. Everyones body responds differntly to certain foods. I mean some are obvious. Avoid the mcdonalds. In fact scratch fast food pretty much off your list (you can still eat out sometimes but keep it under once a week) Exercise. Dosn't have to be alot. Start out with a goal of 15 minutes a day. Then after a month increase that to 30. With a main goal of an hour a day. Drink alot of water! Do not drink Pop. Keep milk, juice and alcohol consumption to a minium. Which is to say you can drink REAL juice but the stuff you buy at the store is full of sugar and flavorings. If you got anything like a juicer or even a blender then thats golden. Every meal should include atleast one fresh vegtable. Preferablly green. Don't ask me why but those green vegtables just got something going on(Carrots are a exception to that. They are great too) Watch the fat intake but also pay attention to calories and the often ignored carb. If you are a guy I would definitely say you wanna work out with weights atleast twice a week to get the look I know you want. If you are a girl I would still recommend doing atleast a little weight training. Now if only I was to follow my own advice. I would be a stud.
Edit: Oh yea, one thing thats been said by others but I want to add anyway. Do not expect instant results. The biggest thing about going on a "diet" is its not something you can go on and off. It HAS to be a lifestyle change. Completly. How can a diet work if after the diet you go right back to the hamburgers? |
If you've had long-term weight issues, the only way to maintain any semblance of weight loss is to become an exercise addict, meaning if you miss a workout or two, you start going thru withdrawl. That, combined with consuming less, are the only things that have ever worked for me. Also, do not try to crash 3-5 pounds off a weeK! You didn't gain the weight that quickly, you shouldn't lose it that quickly either. I've lost about 40 pounds over the last two years. It seems like a long time, but I'm in it for the long term. One more thing, stay away from the scale! The scale is a very crude way of measuring *success,* and it will sabatoge your efforts when you hit a plateau and become discouraged. At most, if you must check your weight, do it no more than once a month. Otherwise, pay attention to how you feel and how your clothes are fitting. That ought to give you a pretty accurate idea of how you are doing.

Great information said above, all I could add is dedication.
Which impart could be the hardest to accomplish. |
1) make sure your nutritional gaps are filled.
2) exercise 3) drink lots of water 4) If it's not coming out, it's not coming off (i.e. stay regular) 5) 25 grams of protein in the morning gets your body in gear for weight loss. 6) protect the muscle, burn the fat.... |
Eat less carbo's
That's all I do :D |
zaiaz are you female or male? Sometimes subtle considerations in this area can make a huge different when planning. The advice that BBtB gave you is a good direction to consider. It’s worth the money and its knowledge that you'll always carry with you.
I don’t know what your true goals are, but a modification in how you classify your gauging process may be step in a new direction. Instead of looking and / or measuring your weight, keeping track of your fat percentage in relation to your lean mass. If you go to GNC, Max Muscle, or similar you can find a skin caliper. The nine point method chest, biceps, triceps, sub scapula, abs, supra iliac, waist, quad, and calf will not only give you an overall fat percentage but allow you to get specific area measurements in relation to your weight of the scale. This done in conjunction with a tape measure to assess muscle growth in the same areas will give you vital information. If you start on a particular diet and you see your body weight on the scale drop, but you see your fat percentage increase and you lean mass decrease you know whatever you’re doing is taking you in the wrong direction and will eventually backfire. It may take several modifications to your diet before you determine what’s best for your genetic makeup. |

Go jogging 4-5 miles every odd day. go biking in between every even day. That's the forumla that's keeping me at size 32 pants. |
Being honest guys, all i do is run about 6-7 miles every two days. I was almost 200lbs, then my friend who happens to be a bodybuilder said to me: drink 64 oz of water during the first 8 hours of your day, i mean after you wake up, then eat little bowl size portions of food. NOT ONE OR MORE EVERYTIME, instead 6 times a day, combining all sorts of stuff that is good and not so good, because some things might have stuff you need, and some don't have anything but little in proteins, necessary fats and stuff.
After that, i started running for 3 miles almost every day. Then, i was at 145lbs in two months. It is incredible how much you gotta put into it, but it is worth the time and effort. RUN, it will make your body feel better( trust me i feel like i am born again every time i go running). Until then, later. |
