Is 6' 2'' 155-160 lbs. considered in shape? I'm concerned I'm fat and have no muscle definition....
|
sounds ok, I'm 6' and 12 stone which is 168 lbs
getting some muscle definition is probably easier than losing weight, but it doesn't sound like you need to lose weight anyway |
I'm 6'2" 170 and I'm not even close to being fat, so I doubt you are.
As for being 'in shape', that really depends more on other factors, how flexible you are, how far can you run, how strong are you? Stuff like that. |
"normal weight" would be 106 lbs. plus 6lbs for every inch above 5 feet for men, and 100lbs plus 5 lbs for every inch abouve 5 feet for women. both are +/- 10% for frame size. this is the formula according to nutrional standards.
so at 6'2, you should weigh 190 lbs, give or take 10%. you're mad underweight. |
Here's a Better Ideal Weight Body Calculations. Age is a factor, so I can't calc it for you.
|
Jeez..
Age, muscle, activity levels, bone structures...everything comes into play. You can't simply give us a height and weight and ask if you are fat or not. Medically, you're underweight. However, if you don't get any excersize, it's likely that the majority of your weight is fat, and thus you're out of shape.... |

At that weight you would only be considered fat if you were five foot tall. I predict that you will have no worries... |
I'm 6' and weigh 195 and I'm not even close to being fat. I think you need a burger.
|
There are alot of 6ft+ people on the board. Im 6,2 and weigh 75kgs, which makes me a bit lanky looking. Im eating all the time though, and am training and/or competing in either Muay Thai Soccer or Running most nights of the week. I attract that 'growing boy' thing from ladies all the time, even though ive surely stopped.
|
Again, people's weights are different. I, for example, was 5'11 160 pounds and had a lot of fat on my body at one point. Remember, he's a 17 year old and might not have much muscle.
|
I'm 6' 1" and weigh 286 lbs. Not as fat as that seems to indicate, weight geussing lady at Universal Studios geussed 218 and suprisingly enough, forked over one magic Scooby.

6'1"- solid 200lbs.
p.s. Xsas at 6'2" you definately need to gain some weight. |

ONCE AGAIN
It depends on body forumation. It is possible that he has next to no muscle and has a bunch of fat, thus making him fat. We would have to see various pictures of him before determining that he is "far from being fat". Medically, he's underweight, but there are so many factors.. |

You know what I think your about ideal weight.. it should be compared to the people around you.. I'm 6"1 140 pounds-> I'm a pretty big guy compared to other people in my school. In a vancouver school dominated by asians the average person in my pe class is 5"10 and 130 pounds *17 years old*...so Xsas ur a big guy, comparitively.

I think Cowman makes the most important point, which is that it depends on what your build is and other variables
|
BMI is BS

Im 5' 8" and I weight 195. According to the calc I am like 50 pounds overweight! But I'm not fat, and people usually guess my weight at around 170. Not sure where all the extra weight is hiding! Its different from person to person, you should be able to judge by looking at yourself in mirror with no shirt on. Though to me it sounds like you just need to lift weights =P
If I went by that calc and dropped my weight down to 150 I would look like an alien. |
