one arm stronger than other
If you have one arm that is stronger than the other, what do you do with your workouts? I mean, of course you would work them out individually to bring the weaker one up to the same place as the stronger one, but when you're doing this do you ease up on the stronger one too? How do you go lighter on it but keep it in shape? Do you just make sure and do the same number of reps with the same weight for each arm? That's the best I can think of. Any advice?

Yes, Individually working each arm is what you want to do. As for the other "stronger" arm I think if you keep it to the higher rep lighter weight side you should be ok. If you completely stopped working that arm, that is when you would actually start losing mass etc. but even then it would take a while for that to happen. IMHO. :)

I have this "condition", but it has sort of balanced itself out now. What I did was just do stuff for both arms as best you can, and when you do your stuff for each arm work them out the same. So i use the same weight for both my right & my left, even though my right is stronger. As a result of doing this my arms are almost equal now. The only bad part is my left arm is a bit bigger than my right (19" left, 18 1/4" right. I know this because i just had my measurements taken :p ). Thats the only bad thing, but its not to the point where its really noticable.
Press hard, keep the weight up on the weaker arm and just stick with it. Always work your weakest part the hardest. After a while it will no longer be your weakest part. I basically apply the same principle to all body parts. For example my right shoulder is slightly stronger than my left. Just work it hard and have the stronger keep pace so that when the weaker catches up the "stronger" hasnt been slacking and will be ready to go hard again. Hope that helps. |

I never got around to asking this, but i'm glad you did hehe. I bowled for many years, so my right arm is significantly stronger than my left. Gotta work on that ;)

If my weaker arm was only 18 1/4" I wouldn't complain either. Dang, I'm still looking down the barrel of 16.5" One day 17. They are fairly equal.

I don't know what to do either... When I dumbbell press I can move a lot more with my right than with my left. But I think a lot of the trouble is just getting it up the first time. In the meantime, I'm just going to see if I can work them individually and see how that goes.
