Structured Water: ever heard of it?
I'm reading CAN WE LIVE 150 YEARS? by Mikhail Tombak and I come across a section on water.
He states that most of the water we drink is really not all that good for us. The water that is good for is is Structured Water. The theory is based upon studies of the Yakut people in Siberia who tend to live a long time even on a poor diet. Appearently, the only water the drink comes from ice melted in the sun. Tombak calls this structured water and says you can mimic this at home by freezing the water you drink and then drink it as it melts. I guess tap water and bottled water don't properly hydrate your cells whereas structured water does. I did a search on yahoo, but I mostly found websites selling structured water. Not too much info on it. So has anybody heard of it? It's just odd. I've heard of oxygenated water being good for you, but never this. |
sounds like a gimic

I drink flavored water, does that count? :)
I don't know, it seems like tap water, etc. would be better for you, since it has the added flouride & such. Or maybe that's the point, that the added stuff really ISN'T good for us? Hmmmm... |
So ice cubes in my drinks could add a couple years to my life, huh... ;)

Calling this "junk science" would be an insult to all the other snake oil salespeople out there...

Yeah, I gotta agree. Although I do think the type of water you drink makes a difference. And if his anecdote about the Yakut people is true, then it probably has more to do with the fact that water from glacial ice is extremely pure. |
water is water, with or without a bunch of extra shitty minerals and whatnot.

So how does a simple phase change of water from liquid to solid to liquid make the water more available for cellular uptake?
This is such a rage at the moment i.e. "modified" or claimed to be modified water .... such a shame that they even get print for such total crap |

Goto www.pentawater.com. It's something they just started selling at my local health food supermarket. The say and I quote the water is 100% free of "arsenic, MTBE, chlorides, chromium 6, trihalomethanes and even dioxins". Great! Now I can stop drinking that chromium 6 filled Evian. I half expected the website to exclaim: "Penta Water, now free of the Ebola Virus!" |
Those chemicals listed are commonly found pollutants in public water supplys. They're just advertising that their water doesn't contain it. Not necissarily geared towards people who are already drinking bottled water, but people who are drinking tap water and know about the pollutants.

Whlie low tempurature water does have some "structure" to it (I believe: this is why water has it's max density at 4 degrees celcius) (and I wouldn't use the word structure myself), by the time it is being absorbed by your cells it has been warmed up to body tempurature...
What does he think we are, fish? |
