When you wake up hungry ..

Im curious, and this may sound semi-crazy but, if you wake up hungry does that mean your body was digesting muscle during the night for energy while you sleep? Because about every other day I wake up hungry in the morning and im hoping im not wasting my time weight lifting just to lose the muscle from my body digesting muscle for energy in the night.

any answers would be cool

hmmm, normally you should be hungry in the morning because you've just fasted for a few hours?

I am always hungry in the morning, hence why breakfast is so important. Just for interest sake, that's, in fact, where the name of breakfast came from. Because you're breaking your fasting of food. Hence Break-fast. Ingenious
It's an important meal to get your system back up and running (namely your metabolism etc).

Also, if you ever loose muscle, or loose anything for that fact, it'd never been anything particulary significant. Unless you cut your arm off or something

I don't think you should worry about it so much

Well when you are sleeping there is no reason for your body to release cortisol which will use up muscle instead of fat. The reason your body uses muscle as energy is because it's faster to turn muscle into working energy than fat.

Hence why you shouldn't do intense cardio for more than 45 minutes or so...your body will release cortisol because it is being stressed and your body will then begin to eat away muscle tissue.

During sleep you have a greater chance of burning fat than almost any. Your body is stress free and because of that your body produces hormones and other things that promote fat loss (night and day) like testosterone.
