Totonto
I am going to Toronto next week, and was wondering if there are any must see places?
|
Glass floor CN Tower - test your nerve :)
I'll never forget seeing a japanese tourist who was kicking and screaming being dragged onto the middle of the glass floor and being left there by his 'friends' while they stood around and laughed! |
Go check out Casa Loma too. That's a neat place.

As for other things in Toronto I'm not a huge help as I havn't spent a lot of time there. I hear the hockey hall of fame there's worth checking out. |
Hockey Hall of Fame is definately worth checking out. After that head out to the restaurant Marche that is on the floor above, it's a nice place to eat at but can be a little pricey. :(

The CN Tower Glass Floor is the BOMB!!! I love that place. Also, if you are going with a SO make a reservation at the 360 degree restaurant on the CN Tower.
Maybe catch a play...Toronto has the BEST play venues outside of Broadway. Check out Mideivel Times...that is always a lot of fun. Oh, and stay at either the Sheraton-Centre Toronto, or the Marriott in the Eaton Centre. Both of those are connect directly to the "Underground".... Oh, DEFINITELY check out the underground....it is basically a whole set of tunnels that basically connect all the major buildings in the downtown area together. It is like walking through a city-wide mall...freaking cool as hell...Not to mention, you can get to close proximity of most major places by walking through the underground, so you can save a little cash on Taxis. I got to Toronto, ALOT...so if you need more help PM me.... |
wow, thanks, the underground? I am going for business and staying at the airport marriot. but have a car. The CN tower sounds cool. And will break away for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Toronto Path
Was there about a month ago. You'd never know its underground, it feels like being in a regular mall. It has many exits to the street, and you can get from point a to point b indoors, albeit with some walking. |
Many thanks, I will be at the Sheraton downtown, and it has access to the underground. I am looking forward to a good trip around business
|
toronto, the tdot, my hometown,
theres tons of places to check out, from the touristty to the local. and while ur here dont eat at the chain restaurants, try the local neighbourhood eateries, some of the best dining anywhere in the world, and definitely the most variety, from Azerbaijani to Zambian. |
Underground is awesome, still trying to break away to hit the all of fame and CN tower. Picked up a Leafs game, and want to go to Niagra still
|
Also checked out Marche, pretty interesting, the bill gets up there quicker than I expected, but worth the experience.
|
You've probably been and gone already, but you didn't happen upon a small pub on Yonge street (near Bloor) called The Duke of Glocuster, did you? Great place :)
|
No I missed it, but there is a 50/50 chance I am going back for work next month, I will let you all know, I have a list of places to go to now if I go back, thank you all
|
If you go again, try to stay at the Hotel Germain... http://germaintoronto.com/en/intro_hotel.asp
Not all that expensive, very central and it's the best hotel in Toronto. Ignore the rates posted on the website, call them and ask for their special price. Check out the various neighbourhoods (Toronto is a city of neighbourhoods): The Danforth, Bloor West, the Annex, Queen West, Chinatown, Little Italy, etc.... all have their own flavour and amazing restaurants. Get out of the core if you can. Places like Marche are nice but are just a nice chain restaurant. Check out http://www.torontolife.com/ for a list of very good restaurants. I believe you can even search by price (some of the swanky ones are very pricey but if you are on an expense account by all means indulge at least once). |
Looks like I am not going back. I did try Barbarians while I was there, they had a great wine list and the steaks were very good.
Thanks all for the tips, hopefully work will send me back... |
