Experiences with hotels booked on Hotwire

I've never used Hotwire.com, and am a little leery, because their price listed for 5* hotel is so much less than on other travel sites. Then again, this is what makes me consider booking resercvations through them in the first place. Have any of ya'll had any experiences with this, and if so, did it work out well or did you get burned? Maybe a 4* hotel that had something wrong with it, was very inconveniently located, should not have been considered a 4*, etc...
I know it's somewhat of a gamble, I just want to learn as much abiout the odds as I can before deciding. Thanks in advance.

I stayed in The Muse, 1/2 block off of Times Square in NYC. Rated 4.5 stars. Price was great, I thought the place was great as well. I couldn't tell you if the rating was "correct", 'cause this was my first luxury hotel stay. But, I'd use Hotwire for hotels again no question.

I recommend looking for the "boutique" indicator on Hotwire, it'll land you in the more interesting places.

i picked up a hotel in Boston for $80 a night... it turned out to be the new (damn, can't think of the name, but it's a famous chain) in the financial district. great price, great hotel.

Crazy

Hotwire and Priceline are good delas, but they do not give points for stay. For some of us, it is a show stopper.

Well, My wife really wanted to stay at the Le Pavillon, but it was about $150. I decided to risk it and get a mystery 5* hotel for $89/night. Guess What?
It was the Le Pavillon. I know that's not entirely representative of what I should expect in the future, but I think I'll start using Hotwire now.

for hotels & rental cars: Hotwire has always worked out well.
