Lunges are good to do and you can do them at home. Does your gym have circuit type equipment(non free weights)? If so, I would do leg extension, squats, calf lifts and the hip sled. This is at least what my gym calls that equipment. Also, ride a bike at high resistance. Finally, look around and see what other people are doing to get ideas.

here's a fun and creative one to do with a partner:
lie sideways on your bed, on your back. Have your husband/wife/whatever stand at your feet. Put your feet on their chest, have them lean toward you, and do leg presses - bend your knees until your thighs are almost touching your chest, then extend your legs until they are almost straight.

Biking will definitely help, if you do a lot of good slopes. Weights and a leg-intensive exercise like biking are sort of synergistic. I always made better gains when I did both, rather than weights alone.
Also had good results with weight training combined with traditional roller skating (with ankle weights). Got rid of those skinny calves once and for all. Last edited by Rodney; 01-19-2004 at 08:11 PM.. |
