Any job Ideas?
Well it's a new year and I am looking for a new venture, tired of working for the same company for 15 years. Looking for ideas that would require my using of spanish which I speak fluently, lived in south america and mexico for 20years.

Thinking of starting a small scale manufacturing operation / assbly, refurbishing etc. in one of the border towns near the US. Cheap transport and very low tarifs if any. Non perishable products would be even better.

All ideas are welcome.

What are your likes and dislikes? Age? What are you looking for in a job? Have you thought about Home Land Security. Don't know if they are still hiring but your Spanish would be a big plus with them. And there are worse places to work than the Federal Government.

Reupholstering old Laz-e-Boy recliners. They're very popular, and the mechanisms are built to last, but the upholstery usually goes first. and nobody ever reupholsters them because you have to disassemble the damn things and reupholster one part at a time. Too labor intensive.... except maybe down in Mexico, where good upholsterers aren't hard to find.

One of the sheltered workshops around here (they don't have to pay market rate) occasionally puts refurbished laz-e-boys out for sale at $250 each, and they're snapped up. (New price: $600+). Only problem would be getting a fairly steady supply of trashed laz-e-boys. But if you could, you could refurb them in Mexico and ship them back to the states; probably not even any farther than southern California. They'd sell.

Anyway, just a thought.

What about a travel guide? You are fluent in English and Spanish, so you could speak to the tourists and haggle with the locals. And, a fresh new crop of vacationing chicks every week
