Anyone here live in or been to anywhere in Southeastern Africa? I'd love to chat cuz I grew up in Uganda Ethiopia and Zambia

Sorry buddy, the closest is probably me. And I'm right at the South Western Tip, Cape Town.

From South Africa. Been to Swaziland (although that hardly counts) and Morocco. That's about it.

doos, what do you do in capetown? Ive got two friends about to go to UCT and I'm going to visit them at some point... is it true that people just expect you to be gay in capetown? thats what I heard... sorry that sounds like a really stupid question, but i was just curious

Typical stereotypes of Capetonians is that
1) All the white men are gay.
2) All of us are lazy, and we count friday as being the start of the holiday (there's an old joke that Cape Town isn't called the "Mother City" because its SA's first, its because everything here takes nine months to get done)
3) We smoke too much weed

All three are true.

Seriously though, Cape Town does have its own Gay Village and is quite accepting of the homosexual community. In general, it is a very metropolitan city, with a diverse range of peoples. Youtr friends are gong to UCT, you say? Shame. The Glass Tower is so isolationist and also physically removed of "the real Cape Town experience", that you're only bound to run into a small segment of Cape Town. And it the one containing many gays. so if you're homophobic, good luck.

But hey, its a great city. Damn Beautiful. Do yourself a favour and come in Summer (Dec. - March) No real point of coming in winter.

Ya, I live in Zambia but I'm half italian half yank... Doesn't sound like such a bad place... lots of weed, slow pace (no hurry in Africa) and gay people? well I tend to think towns with a large gay population are a lot more fun... just so much more energy... I'll definitely try to make it down sometime

I study and look at plants and occasionally get paid for it.

As VB says, UCT is a bit of an ivory tower.

Re: Gays. I can sometimes go for hours without seeing one...
