 Eating problem?

		Hey,
Something strange has been happening to me recently. I have recently started to eat a lot more then I use to. I've been eating more then twice of what I use to eat. My mom thinks its wierd that I now eat twice as much for dinner and am always looking for snacks in between meals. I am just hungry and want to eat. This has never happened before. I am 18 and consider myself fairly healthy. Haven't gained any weight. Could this be physical or mental? Good or bad? I was thinking about taking advantage of my bodies increased food input and exercising. The only physical thing I can think of that could be responsible for this would be all the walking I do around campus at school. The only mental/emotional thing I can think of would be that I'm finally over an incident that happened afew months ago. I would appreciate any input. Thanks, Robert |

well, if you're over teh incident, then that probably wouldn't cause an increase in eating. people usually eat in order to cope with a problem, not once it's over.
and lots of walking around campus probalby wouldn't trigger that big of a change in your appetite. could it be stress from class? |

As Mael suggested, it might be from stress of your classes - or in my case right now, the final exams (which I finish tomorrow). But I always eat more and less healthy than I usually do during the exam periods.

I don't think its stress. I breeze through all my classes and barely studied for finals. As I am typing this at 12AM, I just finished 2 bowls of cereal and milk. I've also noticed that I prefer eating sweet things before going to bed. I usually don't like sweet things, but seem to tolerant and crave them before bed. Weird eh?

 Maybe you're pregnant!
Seriously though, how much food do you eat in a day? Do you eat until you feel sick? How big are you? You're young and probably still growing a little, your body needs energy for that. And excercising is a great idea, you should have a lot of extra energy to get rid of. |

For meals like breakfast and lunch, I eat as much as anyone else, but in between I will usually have snacks that total a full meal each. I eat until I am satisfied and not hungry, never enought to make me sick. If its good food, I will eat even more! I weigh about 125 pounds and have been for the last 2 years now. I will try to get some physical activities in once it isn't so cold out! Thanks for the input, Robert |

Since your only 18 it's not unreasonable to suspect another growth spurt. My Dad didn't get married until he was 22 and he grew 2 more inches after that. His wedding pictures he's the same height as my mom. When I knew him he was taller. As long as you are still a healthy weight for your height and aren't putting on a tubby belly then don't worry about it.

As far as I know too much sugar can cause you to eat more. Course I'm no nutritionist, or a doctor, you may want to ask either of those.
