I use Microsoft Money. I can't compare it to Quicken because I have never used it before.

I've been using it for over two years now and have only found one or two problems. It took me about a week to figure out most of the functions. But, I still can't get the forcasting thing to work.

I've been using Quicken for the past three years, and I really like it. I also used Microsoft Money briefly a few years ago. Both of them were easy to use, so I don't think learning the program will be an issue.

As far as accessing your bank and IRA online to do all the balancing, it pretty much depends on your bank, financial institution, etc. Different places offer different downloading options. Some places might charge a fee to download data to these programs. I would check the places you plan on downloading data from to see what formats they offer before choosing a program.

I also found this comparison of the two programs that might be helpful.

cool, thanks guys. i think i'm gonna look into quicken first, i don't really want my bank info stored on microsofts servers. although if my bank and ira both let me download the info, i guess it all depends on if either charge me for that.

thanks again!

I've used both. However, it's been several years since I used MS Money. For me Money was easier to learn but in the end Quicken is much better since it seems to be much more comprehensive. I love seeing my networth pile up every month. Awesome!
