Back from AC

Every year, for an extended weekend, I travel to Atlantic City, NJ, for a convention. While there over the past few years, instead of driving back and forth each day (I live about an hour and a half away), I have spent the extra money to stay in the different hotels. This trip, I stayed in the Borgata, AC's latest hotel/casino (some of my pics are posted in Atlantic City - and the Borgata).

The Good, The Bad, The Funny - The Borgata

The Good:
1. The room is well laid out and extremely comfortable.
2. The 300 count linens on the bed were a real treat to sleep on.
3. The bed was actually not too hard or too soft (geez I feel like Goldilocks).
4. The bathroom is HUGE.
5. The shower is the most fantastic thing in the entire room.
6. They actually have bath sheets instead of small bath towels.
7. Their room service is reasonably priced (as far as room service is concerned), and the food was great.
8. The casino is surrounded by restaurants and shops (and there is even a restaurant inside the casino)
9. During certain times of day, you can see "living statues". I thought this was really cool. I never had my camera handy, though, when they were there.

The Bad:
1. It's located in the Marina, which is not near the boardwalk or the majority of the other casinos.
2. If you miss the signs from the Expressway, you'll have no clue how to get there.
3. There is only one sign after you get out of the tunnel. Miss it, and you'll end up in Harrah's parking lot.
4. While they may have bath sheets, the next size down in towels is a hand towel. So, I can wrap my body, and dry my hands... but what about my hair?

The Funny:
The door hangy thingy doesn't say (front/back) "Please Clean Room/Do Not Disturb"... it says "Tidy Up/Tied Up".

'Tied up' gives a whole new meaning to the time we will spend there.
We have to get a room with a big brass bed.
The showers sound like a lot of fun too.

I was there a while back for a Steely Dan show. very amazed and pleased with the acoustics of their larger auditorium. (I think I still owe somebody some money for my ticket)
spent a few hours in the Borgatas casino. A most miserable time was had.

I've never been to any casino other than the Borgata, but the slots use a little system where they print out a piece of paper with a bar code than actually giving you cash. I really didnt like that as it made it harder to see how much money I lost. They also dont have enough low denomination tables for poor people like me.

thats because casinos dont care about "poor people"

they want high rollers, the higher the better


also, table minimums are function of time of day/week. midweek during the morning and early afternoon is the best time for lower denomination tables.
