calluses.....
Ok so Im starting to develope some really bad calluses on the palms of my hands from working out at the gym. I wear lifting gloves yet I still get them really bad. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them fast??? I use lotion everyday but they still there. I think once I get rid of the ones I have Ima get someone to sew me some extra padding into my gloves. If anyone knows a good solution please share, thanks.

I think you are forever cursed with them. I have had them for years. Maybe try thicker gloves?

Since you're already wearing gloves, I don't know what to say. I do know that I used to have some pretty crusty blisters/callouses on my hands, which have over some time just become tougher skin that doesn't blister much anymore. |
pumice stone is your friend :)

Get a softer glove.

Right on Plan9. Always with the good advice. I used to use that a loooong time ago. Lately I haven't needed more than gloves. Hmmm, maybe I'm not working hard enough. ;)

Personally, I like the tough skin :P Helps alot with the sports for me

Calluses are good, they mean no more blisters, and blisters are bad....

Seriously though, the pumice stone is probably the best idea. It'll sand down those rough areas. I use a callous remover that has two different sides of sanding surface. It's worked very well on my feet and hands. You can usually find them in the beauty section of your local drug store. You might also want to look at how you're gripping the bar. I'd think the gloves would prevent callouses in the palm area. |
I have the same problem. I wear gloves when I lift and still get callusses on the three middle fingers. But I'm not sure about the callusses on the palms though. A pumice stone has worked for me in the past like some others have already said.

i think callusses are just a fact of life when you lift. The reason some get them and others do not isnt so much that the people that dont all share some secret that prevents them from getting them. It is rather genetic. Some people are more prone to getting them then others. I know men that have been in construction al there lives and they have smaller calluses then I. Think you are gonna have to learn to live with them althogh i completely appreciate your effort in trying to find a a method to avoid them. Good luck!

Pumice stone and tea tree oil helps too.

I do the p stone and follow up with Eucerin lotion. I get them pretty bad between shooting and doing a lot of pullups.

As other stated... The problem there is?
I did hay for three summers starting when I was 13. You develope callouses quickly, and come to love them. Im almost proud of the fact that my hands are still tough. (due to the fact that I still do a lot of manuel labor) |
