Heading to Chicago for work and looking for somthing good to do [not Mother's again, is the maing goal] any suggestions?

this paper has it all........

i check it every week to see what show i'm gonna miss this weekend......got a newborn at home.......

check it out, they've got great listings. you can go the music section & do a search for a particular date if that's what you're looking for.

get in a cab & tell 'em to take you to milwaukee & damen. lots of music, food - the crowd is a LOT more interesting that the knobs that tend to hang out at mother's.

If by some stroke of luck the Cubbies make the playoffs.... get to Wrigleyville. If they are in town and you can get in to the bleachers ($$$$).. that would be great! If not, watch the game at any local Wrigleyville bar and wait for the party to come to you after the game.

If they are out of town, I would go to a bar in Wrigleyville or Lincoln Park to watch it.

Assuming the Cubbies don't make the playoffs, try to hangout in Bucktown.... there are tons of little bars, cafes, and coffee shops, many with outdoor seating and great peoplewatching. (plus, it is always fun to tell people you ate at the "Earwax Cafe" which doubles as a porn-rental place.

Get away from Rush and Division and go to some more local type bars. Most interesting place: Southport Lanes - manual set bowling pins, pool hall - really neat place, like an upscale pool hall.

After close: Weiner Circle - hot dogs in Lincoln park I think. In playboy last month as best after hours food. Food sucks, but it is a crazy time.

Matchbox - chicago's smallest/narrowest bar - really classy. Great for afterdinner drinks - good martini's.

go to Metromix.com - and search - I used that site and you can find great stuff. Have fun.
