Is nothing sacred?
I just couldn't hold back on this one. I am not into fitness. I like to swim and rock climb, ... and ski when I can afford it. I try to eat right. Once in a while, I like to have dessert. I like my desserts to be unhealthy. They have to be unhealthy, or I am not satisfied.
I just saw a commercial for ... the Vitaball . It's not right, I tells ya! Not. Right. |
I can see lazy parents buying this for their kids.
It's almost not a bad idea... but at the same time I think it's stoopid. |
There are also gummy bear vitamins too. I think the idea isn't too bad myself, but when I was a kid my parents had to rip the vitamins away from me because the flintsone's chewables tasted so good. Gum is a nice alternative to other things, like opium style vitamins.

i think it's a little sick as well. Vitamin suplements are generally a bit of a cop out, unless you have a medical condition. You should try to eat other healthy foods that have this and more. I think thye'd give you a false sense of security, in that you THINK you're living healthy.... they shouldn't replace a sound healthy diet.

Okay, any of you damning this idea have kids of your own? It ain't that easy to get them to eat right (no matter what anyone says, trust me). I'd be more concerned if they were marketing it towards adults.
My only concern would be that they would get too much of certain vitamins and minerals, after all, it IS gum. How can a kid stop at just one gumball per day? |
It seems that the problem of monitoring you kid's diet is not solved by this product. Rather, it would switch from 'not enough vitamins' to 'too many vitamins'.
What you guys have said is right on. There's no substitute for a healthy diet and good parenting. But what does this say about other products, like vitamin enhanced fruit drinks or breakfast bars? Do they fall into the same category of items that can't quite subtitute for the real thing? |
A multivitamin is taken to ensure that you are going to get the essential vitamins that you missed consuming during the day. They are a great addition to a healthy diet (note I said addition too), and with the crap that kids eat these days, I can guess that they aren't getting their daily vitamin needs. Thumbs up on the gumballs... any way to get a kid to put good things in their body is fine by me.
