workout music

What music pumps you up?

telekinetic2 08-22-2003 07:11 AM

It depends on what part of my workout...I used to have an MP3 player loaded with an hour set of music, and when the music was done so was my workout. It had pump up stuff (like Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, etc etc) during weights...quick rock during cardio, and happy ("scar tissue", some U2) stuff during cardio cool-down...

cliche 08-22-2003 08:03 AM

When I rowed I found that the Mission Impossible music would drop my 500m split by about 2 seconds on the machine. And "Remember Me" by Blueboy was always very good for rhythm.

Sparhawk 08-22-2003 10:41 AM

I like lyricless techno for running/biking and hard rock for weight training. I wish there was some way to listen underwater, then swimming wouldn't be so damn boring.

Plan9Senior 08-22-2003 11:48 AM

I have hard music (Punk, Heavy Metal, even Rap) for lifing and electronic music (techno, deep house, etc.) for when I do cardio.

punx1325 08-22-2003 11:29 PM

The harder the better, it is what keeps me going. The yelling will give me that burst of energy.

almostaugust 08-23-2003 12:15 AM

Hard music is good. I was listening to Henry Rollins before running the stairs this afternoon. Thought i was gonna explode.

Sleepyjack 08-23-2003 07:16 AM

atm superunknown (Soundgarden) is my work out music, but also like to throw in tool.
As telekinetic said, you do put on different tracks for different parts of the work out.

RemyLebeau97 08-23-2003 11:49 PM

Just what ever your into works just fine, maybe something with a lil more up tempo beat though to keep you hyped up. When lifting I usually listen to rap or rock. However when I jog I like listening to hawaiian or reggae music, just what ever floats ur boat.

Antagony 08-23-2003 11:55 PM

I go between crazy rock and classical. Yes, I'm weird.

shadrock 08-24-2003 04:14 AM

During workouts I listen to whatever is playing in the gym. Its usually allright. Before a match, I have a warm up cd that I listen to with my favorite pump up songs. I change it every season. But the one song that has always been on it is ACDC Thunderstruck. I listen to that right before ever match. It gets me ready to hit people.

zodiac3k 08-24-2003 03:36 PM

i have a large variety of stuff i listen to when i workout however...

i find that music that has no lyrics and a really energetic tone pumps me up well when i'm jogging or lifting

coke babies 08-25-2003 06:53 PM

Anything upbeat and, even better, music I really like. AFI, At the Drive In, among others. That way I can focus on enjoying the music while I get done what needs to be done without focusing on being tired or bored.

Cardinal Syn 08-25-2003 07:49 PM

Rage Against the Machine.

LImpin the Bizicut too..

Anything that makes yer buns move! Is good for U!

Grouper 08-26-2003 07:07 AM

Gotta' be hard! And not the new hard stuff. My favorite workout music is AC/DC.

HighwayStar 08-26-2003 08:21 AM

I usually listen to music that I enjoy working out, and not so much to get me "pumped." I usually listen to stuff like Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc..

theinfamous 08-26-2003 12:57 PM

the rocky soundtrack. songs like "hearts on fire" and "training montage" make my workout fun

sixate 08-26-2003 01:51 PM

Fear Factory, Slayer, old Metallica, Slipknot, Hatebreed, Ministry, and Rammstein to name a few.

iAmSpartacus 08-26-2003 02:27 PM

Ludacris - Move Bitch

Anibal5 08-27-2003 06:11 AM

Hard Hoover House or some good German Trance or Psychadelic Trance .... very uplifting ... and sometimes just some nice hard guitar work with angry lyrics ala NIN, Tool, RATM etc ..

Subform 08-28-2003 04:05 AM

Goa, all the way! ..
Astral Projection
S.U.N. Project
Infected Mushroom
Miranda

And so forth.

BubblegumTeflon 08-31-2003 01:06 PM

Spybreak! (the matrix lobby scene) and Bang On! by the propellerheads, also Disco Science (rabbit scene from Snatch) by Mirwais. You could have a fleet of helicopters blast Disco Science instead of Ride of the Valkyries and it would have a similar effect. . .

dannoxxxx 08-31-2003 09:56 PM

I just listen to whatever they are playing......but when what is playing turns out to be something you would expect on a "Melodies for lovers, an after dusk, moonlight special" starts blaring from the speakers.....i feel like its time to ask a fellow lifter for a slow dance rather than work out. So i understand why many of you bring your disc-mans and stuff.

wrongfullyaccuzd 09-03-2003 10:20 AM

if you need immediate adrenaline, "awake" by godsmack is gold.

otherwise, other godsmack, limp bizkit, rage, foo fighters, queens of the stone age are all good.

although usually the music they have playing there isn't bad either.

but seriously, "awake." you'll recognize it from the navy commercials. awesome.

breid 09-08-2003 05:44 PM

HEAVY METAL it makes me a little crazy.

pappymojo 09-08-2003 09:05 PM

www.thenewdeal.ca

house music played by an actual band. it builds and builds and builds and builds and then releases to a groove which builds and builds . . .

eris 09-09-2003 02:52 AM

The Faint, White Zombie, NIN, Lords of Acid all do it for me when I'm runnning...

sakvee 09-09-2003 03:39 AM

Has to be something hard and fast to get me pumped. Usually something like hard house, freeform, aaarh techno.

BuddyHawks 09-10-2003 08:41 PM

My high school football team was comprised of mainly farm guys; so we only listened to country music during morning workouts. Not exactly the ideal motivation in my opinion.

Not unless one of those sappy country songs brings back painful memories of a lost love :p. Working out angry is the best way to have a great workout :)

Sounds good. Sounds angry.

Sleepyjack 09-11-2003 04:51 AM

yeah, angry is good when you're working out. you have to get into the state of mind such that you want to break something and you feel invincible. Good times :)

JohnnyRock 09-11-2003 09:06 AM

usually it's hard for lifting... Metallica, Disturbed,Godsmack, Motley Crue, The Offspring, Slayer, Pantera, etc...

For running, it depends...usually listen to Howard Stern while I run during the week and something a little more mellow on the weekend [sometimes the hard stuff gets me going to all out for my training...]

Cobalt_60 09-12-2003 08:40 PM

Tool - Lateralus
System of A Down - System of a Down
System of A Down - Toxicity

macmanmike6100 09-14-2003 04:47 AM

i really enjoy techno/electronica. Indie bands like Radiohead and Death Cab for Cutie makes it in, though.

NoSoupForYou 09-15-2003 06:31 PM

definately Rocky soundtrack, eye of the tiger, burning heart
