You might search the net for sleep apnea and see if you think you might have that. I believe it is caused by your throught sort of closing up when you relax so that as you go to sleep so that your air supply is cut off. You then start to wake up which again opens the air way and you breath again. The thing is you dont wake up enough to remember it, just enough that it disrupts your sleep. This would happen hundreds of times a night and really mess up your sleep so that you might just be so overly tired you it just hits you at points during the day.

My old man has that. He has a machine now that he wears at night and it basically forces air into his throat to keep it open while he sleeps. He sleeps much better now than before.

thanks. i've considered sleep Ap, but the thing is... these attacks are happening in the daytime.

i'm literaly sitting typing and boom i'm almost asleep. exchausted.

if i fell asleep i'd say it is narcolepsy but I haven't fallen asleep once.

Could it actually be a mild form of narcolepsy?

Don't know how you test for that...

Well, often times people with sleep ap don’t realize that they have a sleeping disorder because they have had it their entire lives. They notice it when they get checked out because they have problems during the day such as what you are experiencing.

I am not trying to push you towards sleep ap because I have no idea. However, from what I have heard, if you have it, you could be very sleep deprived with out realizing it. As a result at various times during the day your body might be almost shutting down in attempt to catch up on sleep.

thanks for the advice.

edite: holy shit i believe I just found what fits me most!

Cataplexy

Cataplexy is a symptom uniquely associated with Narcolepsy, and is a sudden loss of skeletal muscle tone; it is not as common a symptom as EDS. Cataplexy may be mild and result only in sagging in specific muscle groups, such as a drooping head, sagging jaw, or buckling knees. In more severe cases, cataplectic attacks may involve sudden paralysis of all skeletal muscles with complete postural collapse that may put an individual at risk for injury from falling. Cataplectic episodes are triggered by strong emotional stimuli such as laughter, excitement, or anger. PROVIGIL does not play a role in the treatment of cataplexy.

i've attributed this to depression becuse it generally happens during certain emotions - i've gone so far as to avvoid many things that trigger emotions until I am ready for an attack.

but my head droops tremendously, jaw and so on. the knees i can't say anything about, but sometimes its so bad i am everything but immoble.

Great! I am glad you found it. Did the information have any specialists you could contact? Even if they are a ways away maybe they could recommend someone closer to you if you call them. Good luck.

If it is cataplexy you should have full awareness and recall of the entire episode. If there is any type of post-episode amnesia or loss of time, you may also want to consider absence seizures which usually last less than 30 seconds. Also some medications(particularly generics) can cause physiological problems due to their method of delivery so rule out anything you might take.

Just some thoughts...
