what to do with vacation time
 

a friend of mine and I have been trying to figure out what to do this august when we are both free and before school starts.. We were thinking about maybe taking a road trip somewhere, maybe out west? But we want to make sure our trip dosn't end up being boring. We are in the hell that is pittsburgh now, and would be free from about the 8th till the 20th. If anyone has any ideas, let me know, money isnt such a big issue, but I don't know if we'll be jetting off to europe or anything like that...

What do you enjoy doing/seeing? Outdoors stuff? Sports? Gambling?

there's plenty of things to do all across america.... since you don't have lots of money...

well scenery is free... find all the mountains, waterfalls, canyons, rivers, streams, forests, and such... find them and spend some time around them. the national parks are all free, but crowded in the summer time.

stop over for a week at one Alabama Lakes, Rent Cabin w / water craft - serenity and fun

finish off on the sunny gulf coast - as wild as you wanna be

I recommend Florida, it's a giant state with an unbelievable number of things to do. Just don't go more than 10 miles inland from the coast. Gets pretty rednecky real quick! Pick a coastline (I recommend the west, or Gulf coast) and start driving. Everything is pretty cheap and the babes are all wearing bikinis in the summer! Doesn't get any better than that!

I honeymooned in Maine. Right outside Bangor. We saw Bar Harbor, and Nova Scotia. Very nice. And GREAT seafood.

Drive to vegas (if old enough). Live for a week. Drive back.

Kinda tough to make recommendations without you giving any details on what you like doing, but I would definitely support the idea that getting out and seeing the mountains/national parks is a very good idea. Or, if you are a big sports fan, maybe you could road trip to a city where you favorite local team is playing at.

take a drive down to Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach. You should do it i about 8-10 hrs and you would definitely have a blast!
