so im a quintessential bachelor and i just never have dusted very much, but i've lived in the same apt for several years now and i have cobwebs and dust sticking to all my walls all over.

i really have zero experience so i was wondering if there was a best option between a swiffer and those dry magneto static cleaners etc. preferably it's something with an extended handle so i can get between my bureau and dresser, and then i don't want to leave and streaks or splatters from going over it.

any tips and links would be appreciated thanks.

I use my swiffer dusters with the extendable handle for everything. I hate dusting so much that by the time I finally do it, we usually have to use at least three refills.The tops of the fans are the worst.

Microfiber cloths seem to be REALLY good at picking crap up on things like glasses but when I try using swiffer style cleaners or microfiber for anything large scale I get the "leading edge" problem.

Kinda interested in this on myself since the apt complex I live in has a severe dust problem.

My mom swears by something called Webster.

It has an extending handle that gets to every corner of her vaulted ceilings.

Like miso, I prefer using a vacuum. To avoid leaving streaks, make sure the fuzz that pads your dusting attachments aren't worn down.

I always just use a broom to sweep off the walls and baseboards, then vacuum / sweep up afterwords depending on floor type in room.

swiffer makes a vacuum though that is awesome for hard floors...battery doesn't last long though, but way better than sweeping.

Feather duster or clean soft broom. Cheapest is probably going to be 'invite your mum round for tea'. (You may get a little nagging, but far cheaper than a maid)
Let the air in - open windows and let curtains flap.
Little fabric conditioner on the tv screen is like anti static, so the dust gathers slower and your room will smell spring fresh.
I was once told if you leave dust on a bookcase for long enough, it will all fall off - but I am not sure I believe it.
Dont forget to save the spiders and place them gently in a more appropriate place - they may later eat a mossie that was coming to eat you.

What is fabric conditioner? Based on context I'm pretty sure it isn't spray starch or fabric softener. If it's difficult to explain, perhaps you can share a brand?
What is a mossie? Mosquito, perhaps? I haven't ever heard this slang.

thanks for all the advice. that webster looks most like what i was going for. i'm also looking at this...


i have a very small one room apt. but there are a lot of shelves and spaces behind cabinets that i need the long handle for. i live up a flight of stairs so ill have to go up and down to shake it off. it'll probably take a good amount of trips with all the catching up i have to do.

i could never make my mom clean my apt lol... i'm already at the point where i'll never repay everything she's done for me.

mossie, midggie and mosquito - blood sucking little buggers.
Fabric conditioner is what you have on tumbledryer sheets or pour in for final rinse.
Comfort, Lenor etc
Hi Jinx - stick a fabric conditioner sheet or damp j cloth (washing up cloth) on the top of an inflated balloon and let it go up to your high ceiling holding onto an attatched piece of string which you can move it across a high ceiling with, bouncing it off the cobwobs and the dirt will stick to the cloth. If you have small children - get them to think its a game and put your feet up while they do all the work.
