Food Question
I have read many health related articles discouraging white bread in the diet, yet also encouraging sandiwichs. Is the substitue wheat bread and if so what is the difference? I look at the back of a loaf of wheat and white bread and notice not much of a difference....

try to find bread that has 4-5 grams of both protein and fiber per serving.
overeating of bread is a simple and yet overlooked way to gain weight. another big calorie source are tortillas.... stay away.

Its the quality of carbs complex vs simple and the difference in nutrients.
Dont rely on substate breakdown alone (protein/carbs/fats) The bottom line is this are you worried about aesthetics? If so do some research, unless genetics is on your side white bread is not the way to go. If not is white bread going to knock off 10 years of your life? Probably not, and unless your buying organic food your getting nice large healthy doses of frankenfood in everything you eat anyway, so you might as well enjoy yourself and eat it. The years prolonged by not eating it may not be years you would want to be alive anyway. (actually just joking about that)

White bread does lose a lot of its nutritional value from the bleaching process. It loses all of its Vitamin E, which is severely lacking in the average north american diet. Vitamin E (the natural kind) prevents heart disease, and before the bleaching of grains, heart disease was unheard of. Vitamin E suppliments and other artificial sources have been proven in studies to cause more heart disease. How does one get more natural Vitamin E? Eat whole wheat bread but make sure it isn't full of some other harmful stuff.
