Cordless blinds and shades

Anyone have any experience with cordless blinds or shades. Good or bad. Just want to hear your opinions. I've found some online, but I'd like to know if they are going to fall apart after 6 months. Spent an hour talking to an idiot today, so now I'm trying to find out some info on my own. When I told him I don't want cords hanging down from the blinds because they are hazardous for the cats he suggested shortening the cords to the top of the windows. Well if the cords are that short, how am I supposed to reach them to adjust the blinds? Maybe carry a ladder around with me? I just looked at him. Now I'm fuming. And this guy was highly recommended.

I too would like info on this. I have a concept for a remote controlled house such as the one Will Smith had in in Hitch. Essentially a touch screen panel controls all functions of the house such as blinds, music, TV, lights etc etc ...

OP, would you be willing to get the blinds that aren't exactly cordless but have a "stick" like thingy that you simply rotate to adjust. They're quite common here.

I installed them in our 3 bedrooms, the living room, and the kitchen. It made our house look a million times better and they're no harder than regular blinds, and easier than shades to put up and down.

Do you remember what brand you purchased? I found Hunter Douglas online on my first search.

No idea. they were something like 80% at Ocean State Job Lot and the only issue was making sure each room's blinds had them all from the same dye lot. I think they were overstock from Linens 'n things.

We have cordless Hunter Douglas Silhouettes in our bedroom. They came with the house. I LOVE them. I prefer them to corded blinds, definitely, and especially with cats. My house growing up had Hunter Douglas window treatments, and they're high quality.
