Intrinsic good and bad

When I was a child, I didn't care how my hair looked. As I grew older, people started to criticize it and tell me that girls will only like certain styles. Today, I'm afraid of leaving the house with messy hair. I read articles online saying there is nothing wrong with my hair. And yet, there are people who say there is something wrong with it.

In my efforts to detach from this year, I've realized the problem - I believe that there may be an intrinsic good and bad. Perhaps it's not good to walk out of the house with messy hair. Perhaps if I learn to like my hair regardless of how it looks, I will fail at life - survival of the fittest will give the girls to the hot guys, and I'll be alone. Or maybe I'll meet someone who is dumb and doesn't realize my hair is bad. Who would want her?

I need to be shown that there is no intrinsic good and bad in this area. Should I live life thinking my hair is fine however it looks, or should I take the time to get a nice haircut because certain styles are simply bad?

Yes you should live like it's fine.

Don't cut your hair or do anything to your body to please someone else, or worse, strangers.

Now, there are different degrees of "how it looks". Aside from the obvious, your hair always needs to be clean, at a minimum brush/comb it to the preferred way you wear it. I'm not sure what you mean by "messy". Some people spend a lot of time to style their hair to look like they just rolled out of bed.

There is no right or wrong. If you look in the mirror and are satisfied with what you see and your current style makes you happy, then leave it alone. You will never be happy making those type of changes for the sole reason of making others happy.

Embrace who you are, there is only one you.

Really? You're raising one of the great philosophical questions to address your feelings about... your hair?

It's an important issue. Teevee says that if I have the right hair and buy the right deodorant, I'll quite literally stumble over untold riches and sex and power and success and riches.

History shows that guys who can get a handle on basic grooming are more successful with the ladies.

I wear a ponytail, and I have a girlfriend. Make of that what you will.

For the record, I have a mohawk. I obviously don't give a shit what the majority of people think about my hair. I also don't put it up every damn day. It's a pain in the ass. When it's down it's always messy.

You just have to do whatever makes you feel best about yourself and happiest. Fuck everybody else. It's a pretty simple concept...
