2009 Resolutions?

What are your resolutions for this year?

Here's what I've come up with:

1) Move to Portland (somewhat out of my hands since our house needs to sell)

2) Run a 1/2 Marathon at a better pace than I did last year

3) Start my retirement savings

4) Introduce one new kink into the bedroom

MEE TOOO!

In all seriousness, mine is to get back on track and finally lose this last 20-25lbs I've been wanting to. This includes walking my 3miles every night again and stop eating out so damn much!

Finally figure out if I'm indecisive or not.

Kick school's ass, and show myself that I deserve this second chance to do things right.

Travel the world
Save money
Get organized
Gain a few pounds (muscle mass)
Spend more time with friends

Not going to say I'll lose weight - it'd be a lie
Not going to say I'll quit smoking - another lie
About the only thing I'm determined to do is move out of state.

Interesting - I'm going to run my first 1/2 this spring. Been doing 5 and 10K races until now.

What time are you looking for?

I'm all for that. Gotta drop 10 pounds prior to the aforementioned 1/2 marathon.

That's about the best resolution I've heard so far. Great way to think and be.

Get rid of the love handles.

CinnamonGirl 01-04-2009 07:28 AM

I haven't made any formal resolutions yet, because I'm so terrible about keeping them. I think the following are what I'm going for:

1. Be divorced before I file for taxes
2. Get out of this unhealthy rut I've been in, and start cooking regularly again.
3. Decide what I actually want my major to be (I'm Middle Childhood Education right now, but I've come to realize that 4th-9th grade is my LEAST favorite age group.)

...that sounds good for now.

Sounds trite I know but I'm going to try to love my life as I live it.

Go for it! I recommend reading up on this site for some suggestions on how to prepare:
Half Marathon Training with Hal Higdon

Last year I ran about 1:51 (8:30 pace). I'm aiming for 1:45 (8 min pace). I started the race strong, but really slowed down at the end. I hope to be better about my training this year and finish strong.

Yeah, that's often my problem at the shorter distances too - get a little caught up in the crowd and take it out too hard and come wheezing over the line.

Gotta be more disciplined and stick with the plan.

This is the first I have thought about it, so off the top of my head real quick...

1.) Binge drink less
2.) Go to the gym 4 times a week
3.) Cook more (I have recently started to cook more than the basics)
4.) Better ratio of reading/watching sports and politics; right now its about 85% sports/15 % politics.
5.) Find new ways to show my girlfriend I love her (not that I don't now, but continue to be creative and thoughtful in doing so)

Spartanx9 01-04-2009 11:53 PM

1) Get a job
2) Move out on my own
3) Eat a bit more healthy. Cut off eating as many burgers, and go to Sweet Tomatoes/Subway a bit more :)

Xerxys 01-05-2009 01:32 PM

1) Eat even Healthier
2) Gain Muscle
3) Be more energetic
4) Be more open minded, (thank you TFP)
5) Go to school more and get even better grades.
6) MOVE TO NEW YORK DAMMIT!!!!!

anti fishstick 01-05-2009 06:46 PM

my main thing is to try to take more initiative with my life.. continue to work on being my own person.. confidence.. blahblahblah.
