Need help with my credit.
 

My credit history is very minimal, however I have a score of [609]. On my experian credit report, I got some stuff like an Old Navy card that was open for several months and paid satisfactorily, high balance of 443 with a limit of 400. My USAA credit card which is all good. But the thing that worries me is my ex's car loan that I cosigned on. It was being paid, then the month after our divorce, there are 2 consecutive months (60 days) late payment. (when I heard about this I quickly paid it for her) Then I deployed in April, and in the Jun and Jul months it says "RF". Repossessed?!?! It says voluntary surrender on payment status. I don't know what she did with the car but she no longer has it. The balance is also still showing up in my debt summery.

Fixing the problem:
I read NoSoup's guide to obtaining and maintaining credit. My bank said they could give me a secured personal lone for like 4-7%. I am thinking of taking them up on their offer. I plan on buying a house within the next 2 years. How screwed am I?

any advice? Can I write a letter or something explaining the situation? What could I do to improve my situation?
