First Date Suggestions
What do you guys suggest for a first date? A movie seems a bit cliche'd, plus you really don't get to know your date by sitting in a dark theater (though this is definately a good second date idea, as hopefully there'd be some kind of mutual attraction going on by then;) ), and unfortunately, money is not something I have much of at the moment. What cheap yet classy date ideas have worked for you guys in the past?

Go grab coffee at a place like Cosi/Xando or something. You're in public, but yet have the ability to talk...
|
Money is an object, eh? Who hasn't been there? Hell, I am there.
Anway, here's my ideas. Shoot some pool. It's usually not too expensive, and it can last as long or short as you want it to. If not that, try a karaoke bar. Most of them require almost no money (like 10-20 for you both) and it really loosens things up. It also can last as short or long as you want. Lastly, perhaps bowling? A lot of girls like bowling that I know, oddly enough. |
I really like bowling for a first date. It really makes it comfortable to just hang out together, then go out somewhere else afterwards.

You could always make fuck.
|
Talk to her, find what she likes and then move from there. If you find she likes bowling then do it. Or if she want a suprise, then suprise her.
|
Nix on the Karaoke--you don't want the potential for emberassment(if either you or her is a bad singer)
Go somewhere where you can talk--cafe or bowling are good ideas already mentioned. My current gf our first date was a movie but we went for drinks first..good idea since movie = no talking and basically you're back to square one. |
Took my ex to the movies for the first time. Well actually it was her idea to go, i think movies are great so you can share your thoughts about the movie afterwards and get to know eachother a little easier.
Too bad that she's my ex girlfriend now...:( |
If you've got a park with a lake or something like that, that's a good start. It'll give you guys a chance to get to know each other a little better (plus it's free :) ). Then, maybe a movie - a break from conversation - and something that you can blow off if it's going really well. Wrap it up with a fun dinner (avoid Italian - it's impossible to look attractive when trying to suck pasta off a fork).
Let us know how it goes! |
I heard this somewhere a long time ago...
Take the girl out for coffee. About halfway through your date, get up and say "Excuse me, I'm gonna go get some condoms." If she is still there when you get back, then great. Otherwise, you have only wasted a dollar and about a half hour of your time. |
That's a great idea Greg.

Otherwise if you cook, cook for her. Chicks love that. It turns them on. |

Going to a museum is good too, especially if one of you knows anything about art. |
pool
zoo bowling carnival (it is summer and all) baseball game / sporting event (if she's into sports at all) plenty of things to do .. I agree with no movie, you need to be able to talk. actually, a movie is fine if it's not all you do. grab coffee before, then movie, then maybe ice cream afterwards if things went well. chicks dig that stuff. |
i went cosmic bowling on the first date. great fun, lots of flirting.
coffee is also good. maybe a movie before hand. opens up for a lot of conversation. |
Ya get an old matress and find a deserted warehouse. Then...oops! That's the second date.
For a first date I'd recommend art gallery, museum, or a park. Someplace you can walk around, look at stuff if you want to, but lots of opportunity to talk and get to know each other. Window shopping at a mall might be good too. |

I'll second a movie, and dinner at a place that you sit down, but not too fancy. Basically, any place that will serve liquor but doesn't have a wine list is good for a first date.
|
Do something even corny like the local tourist trap stuff. You know the things that you went to along with the relatives and cousins that came to town when you were a youngster. If you happen to have absolutely nothing for tourism.
Do something completely different that neither of you have done, maybe like a poetry reading or book reading at Barnes & Noble. |
Baseball games are great, then out for icecream or shakes

I'm a picnic on the beach type. It may seem a bit sappy, but it can be affordable, and women really seem to like it :D
|
Its been said, but coffee is a really good one (assuming yall like coffee). Pretty quiet, gives you a chance to talk, and doesnt cost much. Try it.
|
How about just going down to the beach and then have a hot dog or something? OF course you'd have to do something before, like bowling..
|
take her out to eat before the movie? lol
|
cook for her = good. maybe do a picnic in a park somewhere. maybe in a more secluded area so your options are open..
...bow chicka bow owwwww.... |
Chinese Food + Movie. That's what I do.
|
dates?
get beer or liquor and get her drunk i say ;) |
Take her to the coffee house to meet your friends Joey, Rachel, Chandler, Phoebe, ..................
|
do something active, like bowling or mini-golf, so that if the date is not going incredibly well, at least there are other distractions (like the game, other players, etc)
