				Houston in Summer...

Anyone know of a particularly good time to visit Houston during the summer? A couple of friends and I are going this summer to do the racing thing, but I was kinda hoping I could do something a lil more interesting than just race while I'm there

Houston in the Summer....are you nuts?

It's a filthy busy, flat, low class city with mosquitoes the size of crows....not to mention the humidity!!!!! My advice; Go on south to Padre Island or Mexico instead.

I lived there for 6 years - stay away if you can!!!!

If you go: You can go down to Galveston Island and watch the 1-foot high brown waves roll in. Take a lot of extra shirts - they won't stay dry for more than a few minutes if you're outside. Advice - always leave your sunglasses outside in the car. Otherwise, every time you leave an air-conditioned building, they'll fog up and you can't see for 5 minutes. Okay - one serious piece of advice - Go to the Johnson Space Center - it's a very educational and interesting tour (stay away from Bldg 44, though!).

i go to houston every summer.

i like the baseball stadium there. it's got a retractable roof and a kick ass AC system, so it's actually way more comfortable than either of the 2 chicago ballparks in july or august. if you're into the family friendly stuff, the science museum is pretty neat (indoors, AC). they have a butterfly exhibit there where butteflies fly all around you. it's pretty neat if you like flying bugs. i do. if you're into Art, check out the Menil Collection. if you like chick-fil-a, i hear there is one there that has a double drive through. if you like racing... ummm... i don't know. it's not my thing.
