Here's the short version, crank handle fell off about 17km into the ride, luckily this point is only three km from home, so I walk home, and re-attach. Start off again. It's getting dark, I glance down at the speedo to see how far I've gone, and look up in time to barely avoid hitting a porkupine crossing the road. Then 30 feet from my garage, I hit pea-gravel turning in and crash hard. Broke my flashing light off the back, and am suffering road rash and a bruised shoulder as a result. All this in a stiff wind. :-)
