Nutritional Facts on Alcholic drinks, where are they?
This has been bugging me for a long time.
Out of all the myriad of things we eat and drink and buy at the grovery store that is prepackaged alcoholic beverages seem to be the only thing without Nutritional Facts on either the individual containers (cans/bottles) or the boxes they come in. With a bit of research on google I found out how much would be in standard beer and shots of rum, whiskey and vodka here: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcom.../hg72_2002.pdf on page 20 which is both less and more than I expected however I cannot find an explanation as to why there are no labels on the items. My conspiracy side says its prob cuz the alcohol companies lobbied not to for some reason but still. any ideas? |
the silly FDA has rules and regulations for all kinds of things and nutrition facts about alcohol aint one of them :p
and the only thing people would really need to know would be calories i guess but whatever i c ur point |
Ok, so somehow my post disappeared from this thread, but thanks for the link, it was something I was wondering about as well.
Oh yes, and dieters, stay off the booze! look at all those calories!! |
Now you know why a lot of guys who drink regularly carry beer bellies - if your daily calorie requirement's 2400 calories, it's pretty easy to go WAY over that with a decent night on the tiles and some greasy food.

I know that the reason they don't put alcohol percentages on it is to avoid strength wars among brewers. I'm not sure about nutrition information, but I'm guessing that no matter which way you slice it, you're getting empty calories.
