The TFP One-Million Pound Challenge!!!
Okay, so here's the deal. As I went to the gym today, I got to wondering how much weight I lift in an entire year. I was talking to my workout partner and we both thought the idea of lifting one million pounds in one year sounded cool. After I got home, I did the math, and it is very possible. It really all depends on how many days a year you can go to the gym. I currently go 5 days week, almost every week. If I continue that, I should break 1 million pretty easily this year, and very likely 2 million.
Anyway, to chronicle my workouts this year and the journey to one million pounds, I created a little blog to track my progress. http://oneyearonemillion.blogspot.com/ NOW, on to the thread! Immediately, I thought of the push-up challenge thread and I thought it would be fun to create a new challenge thread for those of us that lift weights and see how fast we can get to 1 million pounds. Please do like push-up challenge thread and inlcude your weight and the new total in your post so that is easy to find the updated total. I guess I'll get us started... 8,145 pounds |
Glad to help:
8145 + 9275 = 17420 |
What happens if i do push ups/sit ups?

So, again... I'm probably going to leave out sit-ups and push-ups, unless I specifically add weight to them. For instance, when my sons sit on my back and I do push-ups, the extra 70 pounds is definitely felt and so I'd proabably add that in. Pull-ups however, I'm just using my body weight as the number times however many reps I do. Total still: 17,420 Today was back day. +12,740 New Total = 30,160 |
+17, 795
New Total = 47955 +13,460 New Total = 61,415 |
+13900
61 415 + 13900 = 75 315 |

75315 + 11445 = 86760 Went again and was also the last poster... 86760 + 11595 (Jan.7)= 98355 |
+13,460 (Fri) + 12,670 (Mon) = 26310
Last Total = 98,355 New Total = 124,665 Woohoo! I'm happy to roll us over the 100k mark! |
Does urinating count for a .5 pound curl? :suave:

Very, very doubtful. ;) |
+16980
124 665 + 16980 = 141 645 |

141 645 + 200 000 = 341 645 just joking... here's what I really did: 141 645 + 8620 = 150 265 |
unfortunately, I had 10 days with no weights because I was out of town for business last week. I did do floor routine stuff at nights at least, but I'm not counting that toward the one-million pound goal :)
Back to it today though... 150,265 + 13,632 = 163,897 |
+11 085
163 897 + 11 085 = 174 982 |
174 982 + 12 820 = 187 802
EDIT - that was on Friday... this was yesterday: 187 802 + 10 650 = 198 452 |
+2 days last week. I was out of town this week, but I'll be back at it next week.
198,452 +14,810 +16,580 = 229,842 |
3600 lbs inbetween my games.
229 842 + 3 600 = 233 442 |
Was out of town last week. Here is this week's so far:
Monday +6,745 (shoulders) Tuesday +11,375 (biceps, traps, abs) Wednesday +12,010 (chest) Thursday +17,075 (legs) 233,442 + 6,745 + 11,375 + 12,010 + 17,075 = 280,647 We Passd Quarter Million! |
+33485
Yep, that's right. I put that gym over my knee and spanked it's bottom :D 280 647 + 33 485 = 314 132 |
Well, I track my sessions based on tonnage (and intensity and a few other metrics that aren't germane here). I train three times a week consistently, and add in extra work during the week for GPP. My normal consistent sessions alone are averaging 15.2 tons per week, and I've maintained that average for the entire year so far. Given 6 weeks, that puts me at about 182,000lbs. If I keep to this average, I'll hit a million pounds in the first half of August.
Actually, the total will be higher due to the additional work I do, but I don't track that as closely. Frankly, 1 million pounds isn't all that tough, if you're consistent. Figure 50 weeks a year, three sessions a week, and you only need to hit a little less than 7,000lbs per session. 314,132 + 182,400 = 496,532lbs I'd call this a pretty cool challenge though. |
496 532 + 23 730 (2 sessions over the last week) =
520 262 Whooooooooooooaaaaaaaahhh.... we're half-way there!!!! Whooooooooaaaaaaaaahhhh liiiivin' on a praaayyyaaaa!!!! Take my hand.... we'll make it I sweeeeyyyuurrr, whoooaaaahhh livin' on a prayyyyaaaa! |
if i bench 200 pounds for 12 reps and 3 sets is that equal to 7200 pounds? what about shoulder shrugs? another 7200? that doesn't seem right somehow... i'll wait to add my weight till i get a judges ruling :D

Last two sessions (Monday, Wednesday) = 22 030
22 030 + 520 262 = 542 292 |
The past two weeks have added 84550#. Last week was a standard 15.2 tons or so (little higher actually, closer to 15.6 tons), and this week was a deload week. Yet the deload week has been heavier than I expected. *shrug* Whatever, it was fun and bled off a lot of stress.
542 292 + 84 550 = 626 842 |
