Possible Victim of Identity Theft?
 

Well, I have 4 days until My Wedding. Gotta go get new insurance. Seems there's some claims on Her record that I obviously should know about if they happened.

We met in July of 99. apparently, at this time, she purchased a 99 Expedition In houston....at 19 years old. Apparently it was also insured. There's been 2 Claims on an unknown vehicle under her record. One in 2002 for $4500 Bodily damage, 12,287 Property Damage. Another in 2002 for $4067 Collision and 860 Property.

Now, that's a pretty big deal. You'd think I'd know if she was involved in an accident like that. The one in 2002 Happened about 6 months after we bought a new car and sold her old one.
This mind you, was a year after we moved from Houston to Lubbock. The other happened while we were both home for the summer. That's a rather large amount of damage to have listed for the car she was driving at the time. Do you think a 90 chevy Lumina could sustain or deal out 12K property Damage, and come away scratchless?

Something Shady is going on here. I've got the Guy at the Ford Place researching info on the vehicle. Hopefully that'll give me info on where it is.

Cause if that 99 Expedition is in Her name, we're taking the bitch back. We'll sell it to pay for our wedding. Fuck the thief! Lol.

Update - Got off the Phone with the ford guy. He's baffled as to how they got our address. Turns out the car is registered and was purchased by a Woman with the same first and last name as my future wife...But a different middle initial.

Well, there's one mystery down. Now I've just got to figure out about those 2 mystery Claims.

sounds like something that happened to my mother.. someone had a name really similar and when she applied for a loan she was rejected due to poor credit history, when she had a spotless credit history earlier that year and she hadn't done anything to change it..

took a while to get straightened out.

couldn't these claims belong to the same woman? Are the insurance claims registered under just a name and address, or is the social security number there too? Everyone always asks for that even though it's technically illegal :) Maybe that would help show if it's theft or not.

How can you have a claim on an unknown car? Don't they have a VIN recorded for the claim? You should be able to show that she's never been part of the chain of ownership for that car.

Might be wise to make sure this other woman(who has a picture ID with your fiance's name) is not using her info for fraud. Order a report from the major credit reporting agencies- they will give it to you for free if you tell them you are a victim of fraud.

BTW, both my wife and I were identity theft victims and it took a while before we knew about it, and YEARS to repair our records
