Brag about the utter cuteness of your fuzzy babies!

Gushing is about to occur, and you're going to like it, darnit!

This is for all of those who think they don't like cats:

Punkin is an orange cat. I thought that was a boring kitty color, but out of all the 20-something barn kittens I could have adopted, he was the one who wanted me. They were all half-wild and wanted nothing to do with me. He marched right up, this little pale orange fluff of a thing, mewing in a tiny little voice, and crawled into my lap and started purring. Leaving was difficult - he followed me to my car and stayed outside of it, mewing until I left. Now, as a full-grown two year old kitty, he still mews in the same voice, and purrs even louder.

He follows Quadro around every morning with little mews until he is picked up. He is then perfectly content for as long as Q can take it. (He's a girl: he just wants to be held!!) Punkin comes running at a full gallop when you call him. He's also an utter begger if you're in the kitchen rustling bags. Punkin's oddest vice: he LOVES lettuce. If we open a bag of salad, he's practically in a cat version of an ecstasy fit of meowing and trying to jump up your leg (no claws used). Punkin is also fantastic company when you nap on the couch. He wil curl up you - practically spooning! - and stay the whole time you're asleep. He's also the social director - any time we have guests, he's there to make sure they're comfortable and that they have plenty of chances to pet him, adore him, and otherwise pay attention to him. :D

Sabrina is a calico of white, gray, and beige. Her rear legs are white on the bottom half, with one gray spot on one leg and one beige spot on the other - same place. She's got grey kohl-lined eyes, fur like a bunny. We adopted her in Albany, about 2 minutes after Quadro told me on the phone "maybe we should have gotten two cats." :p And Sabrina does what we call... the Love Dance.

This is where she gets all excited to see you, and walks up the bed (or couch) and climbs into your lap/onto your chest, and headbutts you until you smooch her head. A lot. She will then proceed to clean every last bit of your hands repeatedly, and with me, she'll lick my fingers and then smooth her face against those fingers - helping me to groom her! Sabrina will also curl up seven different ways, trying to find the best spot to be closest to you and your petting being-cleaned-or-cleaning-hands. She also regularly decides to lie across my chest, completely stretched out, so that her head is cradled in my neck. Oh, and this entire time she's purring really, really loudly. She's REALLY enthusiastic about her cuddling time.

Sabrina also comes when called - galloping the whole way! They wait at the front door for us when we come home, meowing loudly if we don't come upstairs fast enough. They have no interest in going outside, but run out the door into the stairwell any chance they get. Just to hang out. Both of them await the slightest quiver of your eyes to indicate that you might be awake, and if we're not getting up at 5:30 one morning, they let us know that it's 5:30 just in case! The minute we admit to being awake, that's when the Love Dance. starts and Punkin starts asking to be picked up.

I love those darn kitties.

Tell us about the cute quirks or tricks of your fuzzy friends!

BadNick 09-13-2006 10:18 AM

I've always liked cats a lot, and I've owned a few great cats in the past, but my wife has some kind of fear/aversion to cats that I haven't figured out how to work around.

My most beloved fuzzy friend of the last 30 years was my black Lab, Dewey ...as in "do we" want a dog or don't we; we did and it was a long love affair for over 15 years until I sadly had to have him put to sleep by the vet while I hugged him and cried.

Now that I have two young boys at home, 10 & 11yo, who want a dog and a cat and a duck, so far we only have Franklin our pet red-eared slider turtle ....not so fuzzy and cuddly as a cat or dog, but we are attached to him now anway, and after over 6 years with us his shell has grown from about under 4" long to almost 10" long and he seems very healthy from what we can tell. If he was big enough, I think he'd eat us all.

JustJess 09-13-2006 10:48 AM

So tell a good cute Dewey story! Include a picture if words aren't enough! And turtles are included, even if they're not fuzzy. :D

Lady Sage 09-13-2006 06:17 PM

My fur kids are kitty crack addicts.

Miranda and Lancelot cuddle and sleep spooning or hugging.

Tiffany is my priss, shes too sexy for her fur and has a way of growling when you pet her that really means... STOP... ok KEEP DOING IT!

Abby is my queen! The leader of the pack to the end. If she doesnt like a person they dont come back.

They do the darndest things. Scare each other, wrestle, play tag, CONSPIRE (usually against the dog) and antagonize the bird who calls the dog into the fray of cats and the dog goes willingly knowing that even being 3 times the size of any of the cats shes gonna get beat up.

Makes me wish I had a video camera...

ktspktsp 09-13-2006 07:06 PM

I love cats :D. I can't wait until Abaya and I are settled in a place so that we can have cats! And Jess I'm looking forward to the time when we will visit you and Quadro so that I can meet your cats

I have pics of Dewey at home, now I'm in work. But none of the pics are scanned or digital or posted anyplace I can link to here.

When Dewey was still quite young, under 6 mos., I slept on one side and let him sleep on the other side of my queen sized bed since he always wanted to be close and cuddle; so he'd usually be laying on his back, front paws curled up, rear legs splayed out, sometimes snoring ...like he was king of the world... He would often make quiet little barks and squeeks in his sleep like he was dreaming of playing and barking, which I'm sure he was. If in my sleep I ever rolled too far into "his territory" he would jump up and quickly nip at my earlobs, not hard, just to make his point. Sometimes he did this without even seeming to wake up, and then just roll over and go back to sleep when he was done like it never happened. It was so funny I just laughed first few times.

JustJess 09-15-2006 03:35 AM

Lady Sage: When I had a Newfie, she used to "knock" on the front door to be let in or out. The cats had her trained to knock FOR them - she'd knock, I'd open the door, the cats came in, and Shadow went on with being outside. Cats are very good at dog training!

Kstp: Mebbe Oct/Nov? :D

BadNick: *snort* I can totally see that, that's so cute!

For today: Last night when I went to sleep, I had just finished a cup of peppermint tea. I think that stuff is like catnip for kitties, because Sabrina couldn't stop smelling my face. She'd sniff my mouth pretty heavily, and then she started licking my eye. She's so weird sometimes!

They're both very intelligent dogs, but the one on the right just blows my mind -- he's sooo darn smart! The one on the left is my sweetheart, so gentle & sensitive. I love when I catch pics of them playing like this & I also love when non-dog people think it's a scary picture! Cracks me up. :-)

I have to say I am a dog lover and that is a scary picture. Both are beautiful dogs.

Max does look very distinguished.

Tipper that first picture is a total "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" sort of moment.

I always loved cats. However, my house growing up was very anti cat. My Mother hates them, she has no desire to be around them in almost any way. If visiting a friend with cats she will try to ignore them... which is sad. My Brother also hates cats. My sister loves them. We lived together for a little while and almost adopted one. I've been contemplating getting one lately but I unfortunately have to many things that a Cat could destroy that I couldn't afford to replace.

I have had many dogs. I wish I had a photo that was scanned. The longest dog we had was a Golden Retriever who was such a little baby. WHich was half her charm. She had this thing (i talked about this before) about men with Beards. She went nuts any time a man with a full beard came to our house, licking him and pawing at him. Generally she was so well behaved and never harassed anyone but Facial hair just seemed to steal her heart.

Which was a big problem because we moved to another end of town when she was oh... 4 or 5 and it seemed every other male on the block capable of growing a full beard had one... she was in paradice.

These pictures are enough to start me gushing all over again! SO sweet!!

Yesterday, my kittie Sabrina met a new friend, and she was so sweet! Normally, she's completely a Momma's girl (so to speak) and isn't all that interested in other people. That's why I got all excited about her coming up and sniffling at my friends hands and feet. She LOVES shoes, they come with all kinds of interesting outside smells. :p

Lately, Punkin is all about our bathroom sink. He sits on the counter and looks at you longingly, with plenty of mews, until you turn on a little stream of water. Then all you get is cat butt high in the air as he's drinking from the faucet. He'll stay there for hours if you let 'im! I can't go in the bathroom without him getting all excited and mewy. Stupid cat. :D

abaya 10-03-2006 12:54 PM

 I love ALL these pics and stories... hehehe. I, too, cannot wait until ktspktsp and I get to adopt our own furry kids... they will be well-loved, I can tell you that. :)

Will... I am in love with your little beagle. Is he still a puppy? Sooo cute. I have always wanted a beagle, but I'm wary of getting a dog unless I live in the country again (I grew up on some acreage, so the dogs were always outside where they belonged). Is yours a good indoor dog? I would love to have one like that!! :)

Lady Sage 11-02-2006 05:12 PM

Makes me wish I could get the hang of posting pics the new way.

You people have some seriously fabulous looking pets.

Will, that pup is simply adorable... makes me wanna pick him/her up and snuggle it. :)

Intense1 11-02-2006 08:32 PM

First time I've ventured into the pets forum, but wow, what great pics and stories of your pets! They all seem great.

Our story is this: My dad died five years ago, and he never wanted any kinds of pets. After he died, my mom was lonely, so my sister helped her adopt a cat from a local shelter. "Susie" was great, and my mom really loved her, but one of my nieces is allergic, so Susie had to go to another home. It saddened my mom quite a lot.

During this time we had noticed that my mom was exhibiting more than the usual memory loss for someone of her age (at that time, 69), and though her symptoms were alarming, we thought to get her a pet to help her in her loneliness.

Another niece of mine (adult one) found out through friends of hers that a nearby family was struggling financially, and had new puppies they needed to get rid of, since they couldn't afford to feed so many canine mouths. So for Christmas of 2003, my niece and I took my mom up to see this family and the puppies, and my mom picked out one that appealed to her, and we took her home with us, to become part of our family.

She's part pug, part minature doberman, part other, and totally cute. Her body is a pug's, but her head is a little small for her body, therefore, it's tough to get a collar that she can't wiggle out of.

When we got her home, washed and fed, we wondered about her name. TVLand had been playing an "Andy Griffith Show" marathon about that time, and as it's a favorite of our family, we decided to name her Thelma Lou.

ANDY: So, Barn, what are you going to do tonight?
BARNEY: I recon I'll go downtown, get a bottle of pop, go over to Thelma Lou's and watch a little TV.
ANDY AND BARNEY: heh heh heh
(this conversation is repeated about three times, with the accompanying laughs)

Since then, Thelma Lou has been my mom's baby, and has brought so much joy into her life. Mom was diagnosed with dementia back in March of this year, but the constant in her life, Thelma Lou, doesn't care about that. Thelma Lou loves my mom, and mom loves Thelma Lou. I am here with mom now to take care of her and make sure she is ok, but there's no need to worry about Thelma Lou! She lives like a queen.

This is Coach and Musashi, A.K.A Cochise and Mustafa. They're 2-month old brothers that I recenly got from a litter of 5. I was originally just going to get one, but I figured that one kitten would get lonely while I was out, so if I had 2, they could both trash my apartment together. Some of their hobbies include:
-Sleeping on my computer chair (pictured)
-Sleeping on the couch
-Sleeping in the laundry basket
-Sleeping in my gym bag
-Climbing
-Fighting with shoes, newspapers, feet, computer and stereo cables, hands, each other, balls of foil, strings, shadows, reflections and sometimes nothing at all.

They still haven't figured out that my coffee table is made of glass, so that even if they can see the string flicking around above them, no amount of jumping will get them anything more than a headache.

Generally, their daily routine involves sleeping all day, and playing their favourite game "Let's run around the apartment fighting everything" all night.

I think Coach (The one in black) has something wrong with him. He hasn't really figured out how to walk in a straight line yet. He's much clumsier than your average kitten, I've been told that some cats are like that and never really grow out of it. He can still hold his own in a fight against his brother though.

If I could channel their aggressive tendencies and get them to attack on command, they'd make great bodyguards. I'd just have to get them little sunglasses, black suits and headsets. It would be adorable... and deadly.

Yep. Pure bred Siberian Husky. About 8yrs old I think. I've had her about 5 1/2yrs and I'm pretty sure she was about 3 when I got her. I don't know fore sure though as I got her from a local shelter. Now who could give up a cute girl like this? for the most part rather well mannered although she did come complete with all the accompanying insolence, regal superiority, and indifference her breed is known for.

This week, we discovered that Sabrina (the calico pictured top) loves being drummed. Seriously. Q could be a bongo player, the way he's whapping her, and she LOVES it. Completely. Purring like a motor, going nuts trying to stretch out for more drumming... weeeeeiirrd. Three years we've had this cat, and he just figured out that she likes being drummed this week.

Soooo silly. :D

My cats, Pepsi and Coke are pretty much gay. I swear, they like each other way too much to just be good friends in the cat world. I mean they are super cute, Pepsi is a giant fluffy orange and reddy striped cat, and Coke is a sleek panther looking, half siamese stray that we found when we were living in the country. My cat Pepsi, the orange one sleeps with his fron paws extended and his back legs pushed out like _|-|_ < that. Its very cute, and always gets him pets when he wants them. I shall have to find pictures to post for you when I get a chance. But yeah, my cats are gay.

Well these aren't my puppies since they are for sale but they are the result of our two Cairn Terriors. This is our fifth litter and this litter seems to be the cutest so far. I think it's cause they're all males.

This one cries like no other if you put him down. He is a lap dog and he loves to be carried around while you're doing things (this is probably my fault but that's okay, he's cute)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...y/DSC_9556.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...y/DSC_9592.jpg

And lastly, this one we call Beast. When we sold him he was at least 1/3 bigger than the others but of course he was also the most gentle and laidback so he sold first. This isn't the best picture of him though, he looks like a teddy bear I think.
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...y/DSC_9533.jpg

They are cuties, the nice thing about breeding animals is then you get to sell them when they get to the annoying age and later you get newborn ones to play with. Unfortunately this may be our last litter. I am not living at home now either so I don't get to see them as much. Anywho, the whiner is up so I am going to go get him before he wakes all the others up.

My cat called jack, got him from a shelter, he's a little crazy.

Burmese called Cheeka, she is very sneaky and mean to our Russian Blue. I love her to pieces. Best cat ever.

Kitten from a litter a stray had, that we looked after for a while. Picture is large. Cutest, also the most explorative (is that a word?) of the 4 that were born.

Himmel , my parrot. Rescued from a flock of crows a few weeks back. She's camera shy.

Yep, they're mine! 8 week old sisters, the orange one is the runt. Just got them yesterday...typing one handed because one is asleep on my arm and I don't want to wake her :)
