Pet Rescue Centers
In another thread, I was looking for a particular type of dog and Mal mentioned looking for a Greyhound rescue society/center. I confess that my Google skills are miserable as evidenced by the brazillian links I get for any rescue dog organization. I live in too small an area to walk the yellow pages.
Is there any interest here among the members to create our own directory of pet rescue centers for the areas we live in? |
http://www.netpets.com/cats/catresc/washington.html - is a list of all the animal shelters in Washignton state.
www.petfinder.com is a national organization with chapters in big and small communities that finds homes for homeless pets. www.freecycle.org is used in some areas for people wanting to find homes for their pets - but some areas it was forbidden. |
These aren't rescue centers, but they're places where the local rescue centers post their critters.
www.craigslist.org pet section. www.petfinder.com is one that I enjoy checking up on every now and again, even though I cannot have anything warm-blooded where I currently live. |

Northwest Greyhound Rescues:
http://www.psgreyhounds.org/ http://www.greyhoundpetsinc.org/ Personally, greyhound rescues are very important to me, as my dog is half greyhound, and we got him from the shelter. My intent is to get a rescued greyhound when I have a place where pets are allowed. Being in a small place really isn't an issue--greyhounds make perfect apartment dogs, oddly. |

Must stay away from the shelters. A customer's lab/dalmation mix keeps reminding me I'd be a sucker. |
