Weird lump(s)
Hey all,
About 15 months ago I discovered a lump on my left collar bone as I was brushing my teeth. Naturally I freaked out and saw a doctor first chance I got. Unfortunately the lump was gone by the time I visited him (and doctor nr. 2 for that matter) so they could only make a diagnosis in the light of the information I gave them: There is not one, but many lumps actually. They vary in size and they always appear on my left collarbone. I am able to push them back and forth myself - it doesn't hurt to do so. They're not a swelling but small balls and if I push them they fall behind/under the collar bone and disappear. The area around my collar bone isn't sore either. Their consistency is firm, yet slightly soft. Sometimes they're gone for days, sometimes for weeks but they always return at some point. The doctors think that it may be inflamed lymph nodes but until they can see/feel them themselves they cannot be certain. Have any of you ever heard about this or know of anyone who suffers from, well, what ever this is? I'm not really that worried about them, only dead curious to know what they are. I hope that I'll found out eventually via my doctor or, perhaps, you. I've enclosed two pictures for you so that you can see one of the lumps for yourself: http://www.nancybenfeldt.dk/Knude/Picture%20053.jpg http://www.nancybenfeldt.dk/Knude/Picture%20055.jpg |
It looks like a piece of fat that became unattached. I’ve had a few and the doc says not to worry, they go away after a week or so for me, mine were on my sides, and legs. It could also be a small cyst, which also usually goes away, if they get to big, you need to get a cyst drained, but they hurt when poked, which yours don’t. It’s most likely nothing important, so don’t worry.

I'm sure it's nothing to worry about either as the lumps haven't affected my health in any way ^_^ |
Several of the kids I worked with get lymph node swelling whenever they get an immunization or are fighting a cold. It looks horrid and only hurt after the doctor has been poking at them for 30 minutes. The placement looks right.
My lymph nodes swell frequently, but they are the ones on my neck and they hurt and make a weird grinding noise/feeling when I push on them. I've got some fat that can be unattached any time, if someone knows how to do that! |
What you gon' do with all that junk?
All that junk inside your trunk? I'ma get, get, get, get, you drunk, Get you love drunk off my lump. My lump, my lump, my lump, my lump, my lump, My lump, my lump, my lump, my lovely little lumps. (Check it out) man, i wish i had movable fat. i'd make happy faces! ;) |

Or maybe it’s a tracking bug… |

Could you do me a big favour and find out the correct technical term for it, so that I might be able to read up on it myself? *bats eyelashes* |
i'll stop by the nursing dept on campus when i get a free sec today.
btw, does it beep, or blink, thats a dead giveaway that its a tracking bug ;) |
sounds like it could possibly be Trichilemmal cysts. look them up and see if the symptoms match.

I had something similar on the back of my neck and had the Dr remove it. He said it was a (forgot the name) cyst, basically it was a oil gland that ruptured. It would get bigger and then shrink down to nothing.

So.. did he say whether the cyst was a risk to your health or not? |
Nah, Catdaddy's thing sounds like keloid cysts, nothing harmful, and not like yours at all.

I have something that look similar on my left arm... been havng it for years, can even grab it between my fingers... Doesn't hurt or anything and doesn't seems to be attached to anything... Look like a lumb of fat like it has been said... Also sometimes things look like something but are not... My ex and something like that on of her breast, also her the size was changing, go big ad smaller... Got it check by doctor but apparantly it was nothing important... they even did a poncture and all... She was planning on getting it remove anyway tho, just so stop her thinking about it...

Lipoma I talked with the nurses at work, and they thought I was talking about lipoma, I checked it out on WebMD and this is what my doc said I had. Read up about it, just don’t GIS it, unless you have a strong stomach (Ewwwwww) Quote:

That's gotta be it! Dilbert, you're my hero! :icare: *aherm* "The cause of lipomas is not completely understood, but the tendency to develop them is inherited. A minor injury may trigger the growth". I know for a fact that no one else in my family has had this before so I the only other possible cause I can think of is the two accidents I had on my bike two years ago. And they're harmless, phew! Finally I can stop worrying about it! ^_^ I'm going to keep this information though, so that I know the symptoms, should the lipomas develop.. |

I was going to guess the lipoma situation. The only reason I'd ever heard about it was because it was talked about on a UFO show and UFOlogists claimed that they were implanted by aliens when in reality it's just a common harmless skin condition.
Of course it could be aliens... |
